The Faubion Lion Pride Press

Week of November 28, 2022

Dear Faubion Family,

We hope that you and your children had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving week with friends and family. We are excited to welcome back our staff and your children to school so we can see their smiling faces, work hard on academics, and continue building excellent habits. There are lots of events coming up in athletics and fine arts, so be sure to mark your calendar now!

Aristotle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." At Faubion Middle School, we make excellence a habit, and we are kind. Parents, thank you for partnering with us to help your children develop quality habits so they can become leaders of our future.

Go Lions!

- Mr. Boom

it's always a good time to read!

SaBella Rumph is using the end of her lunch period to enjoy the Wingfeather Saga. In this story, SaBella is reading about a family that just escaped the continent and the kid has turned into a wolf for various reasons. Now they’re on the island where the mom grew up and they’re trying to fit in. In reading this series, SaBella has learned that nothing is more important than love and family.

A virtual trip to the Bullock Museum

This Thursday, 11/17, Texas history classes were in the auditorium for a virtual museum visit with the Bullock Museum. Students were engaged in a presentation and discussion about the "Myths and Mysteries of the Texas Revolution." This year our students will be able to use the presentation to form background knowledge for the rest of the unit when we return from Thanksgiving. Kudos to our 8th grade history team for making this event possible.

Individual Student Pictures

We have received feedback that many parents have struggled with accessing their child's unique code to purchase individual student pictures. You may check your child's backpack for two slips (with a QR code on each) that were sent home through science class. If those efforts aren't successful, you can email the company directly at to place your order. Please include your child's name, grade level, and our school name.

Picture retake day is November 30. If your child was absent for the first picture day, please make sure that they dress sharp for their retake!

Limo RIde to Arcade 92

In our fall campus fundraiser, our top sellers had a chance to cash in on their efforts! Approximately 30 students enjoyed free arcade play, free pizza, and a limo ride. We are excited to continue this tradition next year, and our students had a great time this year.

Mornings and Afternoons

The weather is changing, as winter is soon approaching.

Friday was a perfect day to show how we keep our students safe, supported and supervised. When the rain hit during dismissal, we held our bus riders briefly in the classroom until their bus arrived and then had them walk through the gym and directly onto their bus. This is a level of commitment to our students that extends beyond the typical school, and we appreciate our staff for helping make this possible.

On the flip side, our building does not open until 8:15 a.m., as our staff is not on duty until that time. Please do not drop off your child prior to 8:15 a.m., especially on cold and rainy days because students will not be able to gain entry into the building.

The Yearbook will be one to remember

The Faubion Yearbook team has been working on a masterpiece that reflects all of the hard work of this school year. The cost of the yearbook has gone up slightly this year, as we have moved to a more reputable company in delivering a high quality product. Also, the student marketing team is delivering a more personalized touch with this yearbook, putting in extra effort to make this meaningful for you.

The price of the yearbook is $50. Jostens also offers a 0% interest plan, spreading the cost across four payments.

You can buy your yearbook today at and search "Faubion Middle".

Clubs and Organizations

We are focused on making sure that all students are an active member in at least one club/organization in order to become more engrained in our school community and also help with academic performance.

We have several well established clubs and organizations on campus, including Academic UIL, Student Council, Youth and Government, the Kindness Club, and more. All clubs are student-led and guided by a faculty sponsor. Please follow this LINK for a listing of our clubs.

Cell Phone Policy

At your convenience, please listen to the Simon Sinek video about the harmful effects of cell phones and the importance of interpersonal communication. We do not allow cell phones, ear buds, or smart watches to be out during classroom periods. We also do not allow cell phones in restrooms. Please help us reinforce this expectation, as we want to engage your child in high-quality instruction from bell-to-bell in every class, every day.

Faubion Middle School Model of Learning

McKinney ISD provides a district-wide standard, called the Model of Instruction, which guides teacher teams in planning, instruction, and classroom culture. With input from our extended leadership team, we created a standard for scholarly behavior in every classroom. Our teachers use the Model of Learning, guiding students on how to behave and think as a scholar. This model reinforces the characteristics of a McKinney ISD graduate.
