The Faubion Lion Pride Press
Week of November 28, 2022
Dear Faubion Family,
We hope that you and your children had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving week with friends and family. We are excited to welcome back our staff and your children to school so we can see their smiling faces, work hard on academics, and continue building excellent habits. There are lots of events coming up in athletics and fine arts, so be sure to mark your calendar now!
Aristotle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." At Faubion Middle School, we make excellence a habit, and we are kind. Parents, thank you for partnering with us to help your children develop quality habits so they can become leaders of our future.
Go Lions!

A virtual trip to the Bullock Museum
This Thursday, 11/17, Texas history classes were in the auditorium for a virtual museum visit with the Bullock Museum. Students were engaged in a presentation and discussion about the "Myths and Mysteries of the Texas Revolution." This year our students will be able to use the presentation to form background knowledge for the rest of the unit when we return from Thanksgiving. Kudos to our 8th grade history team for making this event possible.

Mornings and Afternoons
The weather is changing, as winter is soon approaching.
On the flip side, our building does not open until 8:15 a.m., as our staff is not on duty until that time. Please do not drop off your child prior to 8:15 a.m., especially on cold and rainy days because students will not be able to gain entry into the building.

SPARK—Free Introductory German Lessons for MISD Middle School Students!
Beginning November 7, MISD middle school students will have the opportunity to attend free after-school German classes at Faubion to learn about the language, people, and culture of Germany.
These fun classes provide a real taste of Germany but are taught by current junior and senior German students from MHS. They are using a curriculum designed especially for middle school students and their interests. At Faubion, students are accompanied by MHS German teacher Theresia DiPalma and Faubion teacher Olivia Trentine. (Please be aware that parents will need to arrange for transportation as it is not provided before or after sessions.)
The classes are free, but students do need to register. To do so, use the QR codes on the flyer or use this link:

We do not allow cell phones, ear buds, or smart watches to be out during classroom periods. We also do not allow cell phones in restrooms.
