QUOTES FOR THE PRINCIPAL'S JOURNEY
"The world needs a sense of worth, and it will achieve it only by its people feeling that they are worthwhile."
"We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say, “It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem. Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes."
"Imagine what our real neighborhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person."

UPDATE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, Clark Mershon
Mister Rogers
As we head into the eve of the first annual School Wellness Symposium, quoting Mister Fred Rogers seems appropriate. Mister Rogers debuted in 1968 and went off the air in 2001. Throughout his thirty-three years, each episode emphasized being kind and spreading kindness to everyone. In just a few days, a movie will be released, starring Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers. Here is a sneak preview. The film serves as a reminder of how one person can make a positive difference in the lives of people. The School Wellness Symposium is designed to help bring a sense of calmness to attendees as well as equip them with resources and a knowledge of strategies to help guide them and those who need them most. Wouldn't it be great if we could replicate Mister Roger's philosophy and have beautiful days in ALL neighborhoods throughout Missouri? Walk-ins are welcome on Sunday.
Pattonville High School
This week was a momentous week for Pattonville High School with two surprise announcements. Congratulations to Dr. Jon Fitzgerald for being selected the 2020 Missouri Assistant Principal of the Year on Wednesday. In case you missed the surprise announcement, I have included the link. ACT announced that a Pattonville HS senior was awarded scholarships totaling $20,000. To view the heartwarming video, click here. Doug and I appreciated the hospitality of Principal, Dr. Joe Dobrinic. I will include a few pictures of the campus tour in next week's Messenger.

MICRO-CREDENTIALS PILOT
Illinois Principals Association is now seeking participants to help pilot, free of charge, two micro-credentials: (1) Leading Vision and Mission and (2) Driving Vision and Mission. Interested individuals are asked to register for one of 4 informational virtual meetings, as described on the attached flyer.
Micro-credentials provide evidence of crucial educational leadership skills and provide a way for you to share your skill validation with others. There are currently eight micro-credentials available for purchase through Ed Leaders Network with another dozen presently in the writing stage and more than 30 in the developmental stages.
MoASSP, MAESP, and DESE have been working with Illinois for the past couple of years to provide this new opportunity to help support learning for administrators. For more information, click on the Vision and Mission Pilot Flyer pdf below.
