Good evening everyone!

There was A LOT going on this week at JQA!!! .....We made it! YES!! :) Thank you for all your support, your feedback, your persistence, and for being a CHAMPION for our scholars every single day.

I would also like to give specials THANKS to:

Ms. Davis- for planning the Real School Garden Lessons for our school

Ms. Van Winkle- for keeping us on track with the SPED IEP's (is still in the works!)

Ms. Thompson- For organizing the Achieve3000 Model Lessons for Reading.

Mrs. Williams- for her support in providing snacks for our scholars after school

Mrs. Gonzalez and Mrs. Herrera for helping Mrs. Ramirez in getting Econ. Adv. forms!!

Mrs. Telesca, Mrs. Magallon, Mrs. Gonzalez, Mrs. Martinez, Ms. Cartagena for supporting during the PTA night.

Mrs. Rodriguez. for putting together 2 successful AVID parent information meetings.

A BIG SHOUT OUT to TA's that stayed to help during the Math/Science Night, and ALL the Math and Science teachers from every grade level. All the activities that you prepared were fun and engaging for the families!

Real School Garden Lesson at JQA!

  • Plan, align and write our LO and DOL in student friendly terms and post them in a prominent place. Remember to use the Knowledge and Skill statement to ensure the appropriate level of rigor is being addressed in the LO.
  • As we continue our SPOT observations, please be very consistent in the effective implementation of various practices discussed during our TEI orientation and lesson alignment conversations. With regards to Alignment (learning objective), the proficient rating states: Focuses students at the beginning and throughout the lesson, by clearly stating
    • What they are learning
    • Why it is important
    • What mastery looks like
    • How to connect it to prior knowledge and their own lives and explaining to students
  • Engage learners throughout your lessons. It will support the increase in student achievement and reduce disruptions. Consider the implementation of hands-on items, such as index cards, sticky notes, white boards, graphic organizers and other tools so that the knowledge is internalized.
