This upcoming Wednesday, May 5 is National Bike to School Day. Kids all across the country will be biking and walking to school and we are going to celebrate with them. It's a great way to get the body and mind ready for learning in the morning and a great transition from being at school all day to coming home.

We'll be taking some pictures so come join in the fun!

We are pleased to announce that we will be having a book fair in May. It will be from May 10 – May 14. Students will be previewing books with their class either Monday, May 10 or Tuesday, May 11. On Tuesday, May 11 the online book fair will be made available to you. You can order books online, OR you can come to the in-person fair that will be available either outside or in the gym after school from 3:30 – 5:00. Parents and students will be allowed to view books and purchase them at this time. From Wednesday, May 12 – Friday, May 14 students will have the opportunity to purchase books during library check-out or Tech time. (your child’s teacher will let you know the date.) This will only be a time to purchase books and not a time to browse. Students should come knowing what they wish to purchase.

Thank you to everyone for helping to make next weeks Teacher Appreciation a success. Team work really is the dream work and we cannot wait to spoil all of our amazing teachers and staff all week long! On Friday we would love to fill the teacher’s lounge with notes of appreciation from all of you. If you would like to leave a note (it can be for one teacher specifically or all of the teachers in general) please fill out the google form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdWTp--YwGr5tV9JlpUBR0efdXVPZ9cPc5iUeDCIbRPMaUcAw/viewform?usp=sf_link) by Wednesday, May 5th, no later than 6pm. The teacher appreciation committee will get your note typed up and display it in the Teacher’s Lounge on Friday. You can choose to include your name or your note can be anonymous (just do not fill out the name field on the form).

The Werner PTA is so proud of how our community helped show support and school spirit during our Fun Run fundraising event and we want to thank everyone for all you did to make it a success! We will have more information about how much we raised and our plans to use it soon. Our final PTA meeting of the year will be May 13 at 10:00 am via the Zoom link below.

We will be discussing our plans for the next school year to engage and expand the activities that we do, and we hope you can join us and get involved. In particular, we are looking for two people to join the Board as our VP of Fundraising and VP of Programs. The COVID-19 pandemic has created financial hardships for many in our community, leading to housing instability and food insecurity. There are financial resources available to help families and landlords and protections in place to help people stay housed. The PSD Department of Language, Culture, & Equity has worked with community partners to put together resources to support families.
