SkillsUSA
Justin Lindsay earned the right to represent the state of Washington at the National SkillsUSA conference to be held in Louisville, KY June 25 - 28. Justin won first place in Extemporaneous Speaking for the second year in a row at the State competition that was held in Yakima April 25 - 27. Students competing in this contest are given a theme and 5 minutes to create their 3 - 5 minute speech. It's a difficult contest, but Justin did a great job. Last year, he placed 4th in the nation. Justin's SkillsUSA advisor is Nancy Wistrand, a CTE teacher who teaches Video Production at Skyview HS. SkillsUSA is a leadership and technical skills club whose mission is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation's future skilled workforce through the development of skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.
