News and Notes for Parents at PNHS
Wrapping up a momentous school year!
Over the next 12 school days, we'll wrap up the finishing touches on what has been a school year unlike any other. From starting back with mask mandates and the looming learning loss, to finishing with class assemblies and one-of-a-kind field trips, the progression of this school year has been pretty profound.
Through it all, our students have been excellent. Bouncing back from a few tough years, they have re-dedicated themselves to a full high school experience, and the successes they've achieved are remarkably impressive. It is a distinct reminder to all of us of how lucky we are to be working here in this school with these kids.
Between now and the last day of school (which is June 27th, for students who need to make up an exam they missed) there are still a few more things to keep on your radar, as well as some things to keep on your radar for the summer months. See the information below for all you need to know, and certainly reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns!
Thank you for an incredible year!

Principal

2. Eagle Wake up
Tomorrow we will be having our very first EAGLE WAKE UP!
The brainchild of the students of Ms. Matthews & Mr. Fraioli's Advisory sections, the goal is to adjust the bell schedule to put K Block and part of Communication Block at the start of the day and give students a personalized start to their day.
Over the last few months, the advisory students have created plans for different stations for students like Yoga, Debate, Trivia, Basketball "shoot around", Donut Decorating, Campus Walks, Music, Silent Reading in the Library, various Social Groups and others that all PNHS students have had the opportunity to select prior to tomorrow's event.
All students have been assigned a station, and will report directly to that station at the start of the school day. For 30 minutes, students will be able to participate in self-selected stations across the school, led and supervised by teams of students and teachers. After 7:50, students will then report to 1st period and continue through the day as usual.
If it goes well, we'll have more next year with enhanced options!
Looking forward to a great opportunity to shake things up and involve student choice in life at PNHS! THANK YOU to all the students, Ms. Matthews and Mr. Fraioli who have done an AMAZING job organizing the event tomorrow!
3. Final Exam Schedule: Tuesday, June 21 through Monday, June 27th
After the day off on Monday, June 20th, students will have Final Exams in all their courses.
Tuesday and Wednesday are full days of school, but exams will only be given in the first two periods of the day.
Thursday and Friday are half days of school with an 11:05 dismissal, and only the periods that are holding exams will be taking place.
Monday, June 27th is a half day for students who have missed an exam and need to make up an exam. All students will be dismissed at 11:05.
4. 2022-2023 Course Selection Distribution
All students in grades 9-11 will receive a list of the courses they are scheduled for in the 2022-2023 school year in their last period class on Friday, June 17th. These courses are listed alphabetically by department and do not include assigned teachers or periods. Student schedules with periods and teacher assignments will be handed out on the first day of school: Tuesday, August 30th.
Guidance works to meet with each student at least twice during the scheduling process, and makes every effort to honor each and every individual student’s request, while also balancing that with the needs and resources of the school as a whole. It is also important to know that classes are still balanced to even out sections and the master schedule may require changes over the summer, so the courses you will receive are not final until schedules are given out on the first day of school.
Guidance staff will also be on hand the week following the close of school, and the week before the start of the new school year. Our office is also open during the summer Monday – Friday from 7am – 2pm.
5. Spring Sports Make The MIAA Tournament!
Lexi Barry finished tied for 13th in the South Golf Tournament and made history qualifying to compete in the statewide tournament!
And that's not all!
Capping off a historic and amazing year of athletic success at PNHS, an impressive number of teams this spring have or are hosting playoff games this week:
- Girls Tennis: Defeated Nashoba at home on Sunday and travel to face Notre Dame Academy this afternoon.
- Softball: Rallied to defeat Danvers at home in extra innings Sunday and defeated rival Silver Lake yesterday to make it to the Elite 8. They travel to face Billerica on Friday afternoon.
- Baseball: Soundly defeated Westborough on the road on Monday and will travel to face King Philip this afternoon.

Course Selections will also being going out to 8th grade incoming Freshmen next week.
All Freshmen in the Class of 2026 and their parents are welcome to attend the Freshman Open House on Thursday, August 25th at 1pm in the Performing Arts Center.
Students will receive a copy of their schedule, learn key information about PNHS and have the opportunity to tour the building after receiving their schedules. There also may be some goodies available for freshmen to enjoy while getting to know the school and meet up with their classmates!
See you in August!
7. PPS Summer Reading Expectations
Between now and the end of the school year, your child's ELA teacher will outline the Summer Reading expectations for students this year.
The format is similar to previous years, so it should be very familiar to you and your child. The book lists for each grade have been reviewed and should be also be available online for students to access. Hard copies of the guidelines will be available here, at Central Office and the Public Library all summer long, and the guidelines should be available on the "Summer Happenings" section of the Plymouth Public Schools Website next week.
8. Allied Health Recognition
This year, due to the adjusted testing schedule and delay in available hours to juniors last year, we also recognized the seniors from the Class of 2022 who achieved this recognition over the past year as well.
Ms. Leet, Ms. Morse and Ms. MacKenzie put together a celebratory, heartfelt and wonderful presentation for their students in the PAC this past Monday! Congratulations, CNAs!
