In the article , " When is it safe to let kids play tackle football ? Study say after age 12 " , they took 42 former football players between the age of 41 and 65 and made them take three tests . They also split them into two groups , the players that played before they were 12 and those that played when they were 12 and older . And at the end , those that played football before they were twelve performed worse than those that played when they were twelve and or older . In the article , " NFL rookie retires to avoid the risk of brain injury " , showed an example of a man named " Chris Borland " , a linebacker for the SanFransico 49ers that retired from playing tackle football even though he could make , piles or stacks of money from the NFL so he couldn't risk himself in danger of brain injury . This shows how serious brain injury can be .
