"Together We Can"

From the Ms. Butler's Desk

Tomorrow is the big day. The first day of school is always a great day. It's a new beginning for a new year. This year will be especially comforting since we will are opening the campus with fewer restrictions than before. Below are a few updates regarding the school opening:

COVID-19 Guidance

This is the latest update from the TEA website that addresses school health operations requirements:

Be assured that our Home office is monitoring the latest COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions and will update all parents and staff as changes arise. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic together.

First 2 Weeks of School Dress Code

We are expecting all scholars to be in their Ibiley Uniforms; however, we understand that some scholars will not have their uniforms by August 2. We are offering the following dress code for the first 2 weeks of school.

  1. Scholars are in their school uniform from Ibiley
  2. Scholars are wearing a plain polo shirt (any color) with Ibiley uniform bottoms, denim jeans, denim shorts, or denim skirts. All denim must be free from rips & holes and must be school-appropriate.
  3. Friday Only: Scholars may wear a Woodlands Classical Spirit shirt with Ibiley uniform bottoms, denim jeans, denim shorts, or denim skirts. All denim must be free from rips & holes and must be school-appropriate.
  4. All scholars must-have athletic shoes in white, black, or gray with up to 10% of a different color.

TWCA & RES Parent/Student Handbooks

In the "What's New" section of this newsletter, I have attached a copy of the new TWCA Parent/Scholar Handbook and the RES Parent/Student Handbook. Please review both documents for specific information regarding our school operations.

Car Rider Dismissal Signs

Car rider signs will be available in the morning in both buildings. If you are unable to pick up a sign in the morning, please create your own. These signs will be used until you receive your official School Dismissal Manager Car Rider Sign.

School Dismissal Manager (SDM)

Later this week, you will receive a welcome letter from School Dismissal Manager. SDM will have some helpful videos that will assist you with setting up your child's dismissal.

Intercession Update

This year, we will be offering intersessions. Intersessions are brief breaks throughout the school year for extra academic support. Intersessions are strategically scheduled to provide intervention, enrichment, and accelerations following a grading cycle, rather than delaying these experiences until the summer. For intervention, the ability to provide students with these more immediate recovery opportunities will reduce the likelihood of compounding knowledge gaps when new grade-level content is presented and students do not possess the requisite skills.

Intersessions will:

  • help address the "summer slide", or the decline in student performance that typically happens during long breaks

  • manage the anticipated long-term impact of COVID-19

  • provide intervention, enrichment, and acceleration opportunities

  • be built into the school year to provide timely student support and give extra flexibility to respond to student needs

  • provide more immediate recovery opportunities to reduce knowledge gaps

Intercession will have a camp-like feel with smaller group sizes with fun, engaging, and interactive activities. Intercession will be offered 3 times during the school year. Intercession will be offered to ALL scholars and the hours will be 9:00 am-12 noon. Some scholars will receive a personal invitation to intercession. All scholars will receive their personal invitation 3 to 4 weeks before the intercession week. Below are our intercession dates:

  • September 27-October 1
  • January 4-7
  • March 7-11

If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our front office at 936-242-1541. Thank you for your continued patience.

Masks & the Executive Order

Dear Parents,

In light of Governor Abbott's most recent executive order (GA 36) and in consultation with our Superintendents and Chief Executive Officer, face coverings (e.g. masks, gaiters, shields) will no longer be required on campus or at school events.

Students may still wear masks or other face coverings, in accordance with their parents' wishes, as may faculty and staff.

Once all items are fully in stock, customer orders usually ship within 24-48 hours of being placed.
