Husky Howler
Horizon Community Middle School - April 2, 2021
Principal G's Message
The picture above is a gentle reminder that YOU MATTER! On Monday, April 5th, we welcome back all of our students to full in-person learning again. It has been a long and arduous road, but I know that our staff and students are excited to get back in the swing of things again. Rest assured, knowing we will continue to practice our overlapping safety protocols:
- Masks will still be required at all times (other than sitting and eating at lunch)
- Social distancing will be to the greatest extent possible
- Hand washing will be maintained.
- Hallway highways to control movement amongst students will continue to be followed.
- Before school grade-level entrances will still be used
- Campus must be cleared by 4:00 pm after school to maintain social distancing
We thank you for supporting us as we transition to a full school model for the first time in a year. With that said, we understand that this will be challenging for some. We are prepared to accommodate any needs that our students may have in this return. It will take some getting used to with regard to academics every day, sharing social/emotional space, and wrapping our heads around a school environment again. We got you, anything you or your child needs to successfully transition, please, do not hesitate to reach out.
I have communicated to teachers that our return to full in-person learning will be gradual. Our goal is to safely allow our students to re-norm the expectations of every day school, and experience a gradual return academically and socially. Please know that we have planned engaging learning experiences in class, and will not be assigning any homework this upcoming week as we focus on re-cultivating our relationships. It will be a gradual process as we get our feet under us in this return. Thank you so much for your support and remember to take care of yourself as well...YOU MATTER!
