Happy New Year! I hope you have enjoyed your winter break. The new year has arrived and, it is time to get back to learning Spanish.
Second Grade
Traditional:
Second grade students will continue learning about pets and also about farm animals.
Spanish speaking:
Our Spanish speaking students will continue writing their essays about what pets need.
Third Grade
Traditional:
Third grade students will continue to learn about the weather and the seasons.
Spanish speaking:
Students are learning how to ask and answer questions to show comprehension of a text. They read the book: What do pets need? These students are also learning to make inferences based explicitly on the text.
Fourth Grade
Traditional:
Our fourth grade students will continue to learn about animals, as well as their body parts. Students will also be learning about animals that live in a farm. Then they will write brief description of a farm animal of their choice.
Spanish speaking:
Students read the text Escondidos en el mar, to determine the main idea. The students also had to explain how key details in the story supported the main idea. When we get back to school students will get the opportunity to write a summary of the text.
Fifth Grade
Traditional:
In January the students in fifth grade will learn about the house. They will also be learning about clothing and colors.
Spanish speaking:
Students have read the book Escondidos en el mar and they determined the main idea. Also, the students explained how using key details in the text supports the main idea. Then students used a graphic organizer to compare and contrast the different ways sea animals survive in the ocean. Finally, the students will compose a short essay in which they will describe the similarities and differences between sea animals in the text they read.
Sixth Grade
In the sixth grade class, the students are learning about animals. They are learning about pets and also about farm animals.
Spanish speaking:
The students are working on defining the main idea in the text Escondidos en el mar and, they will be writing a summary of the text without giving a personal opinion.
