LO Equity Summit 2021, May 15th
As valued members of our community, the Lake Oswego School District, the City of Lake Oswego and the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce are pleased to invite you and your family to our first virtual Equity Summit: A Spirit of Unity. This event represents another step forward in ensuring equitable access, inclusion and opportunity for all our community members.
The morning will begin with keynote speaker Erin Jones who will share her story and talk about the power of inclusion. We will then break into three sessions where diverse voices will lead participants through conversations around inclusion, diversity, equity and access. We thank you for joining our Summit and being an essential part of our continued efforts to promote a “Spirit of Unity” in our Lake Oswego community.
Counselor's Corner
Next week, in our Social/Emotional Learning google classroom we’ll be honoring our responsibility to encourage each other to use Kindness & Empathy to Speak Up against Covid Stigma, Bullying & Injustices. Students will learn they can speak up at school and in their community by using the 4 strategies from Learning for Justice.
Our 3rd-5th Grade students will receive a foldable SPEAK UP pocket guide from their teacher on Monday, Please watch the following video to learn how to fold your guide...you may skip to step 4 if your student already has their guide, if you need one, you may click on the following link to download and print your own: Foldable Pocket Guide
I Love Lake Oswego Clothing Closet
The ILLO clothing closet, located next to Lake Oswego High School, provides clothes and personal hygiene items to people that live, attend school, or work in Lake Oswego. Its hours are from 9am-12pm every Saturday. If you have any questions, or would like to donate to the closet, visit their website at https://www.ilovelakeoswego.com/.
Please Verify Your Student's Information
Beginning April 30, LOSD needs parents-guardians of all students enrolled for the 2021-22 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
- Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook and Technology Agreement.
School Supplies Order Information
Order your school supply box HERE.
We know it's hard to think about school supply shopping for the next school year, especially right now. We wanted to let you know that the PTO has partnered with 1st Day School Supplies which is a great way to get the exact school supplies needed for the next year without the hassle of shopping. Boxes will be delivered straight to your child's classroom for the 1st day of school. Save yourself a trip to all the stores and order all your supplies at once. It's so easy!
