Whitsitt Library Catalog

Don't forget to take advantage of our online catalog. You can build lists of materials to request. You can also place holds. to login to do both of these things, type in your employee number for the username and the last 4 digits of your employee number for the password. Give it a try!

Limitless Libraries

So far this year, we have only had a few teachers take advantage of this wonderful resource. You can request books (go here to do that) to be sent to our school from the public library and have longer check out privileges. Most of you have an educator card. If you have forgotten how to activate it, I will send you the information again on request. If you don't, I can get you an application. Don't forget about their Younger Learners page that is packed full of fabulous resources.

Book Order in Progress

I have been asking students for ideas for books to order for the library and they have been thrilled to give suggestions. Do you have any requests? Send me an email or fill out this form for any titles you would like to have included.

Shadow Puppet Show

Some Kindergarten classes ooooohed and aaaaahed over slightly spooky shadow puppet shows that brought Halloween stories to life. They enjoyed Five Little Pumpkins, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat. If you missed out, you can view two of them online at my PuppetPlace wiki.

Speaking of Puppets...

There was a wonderful webinar on Classroom 2.0 Saturday. It was called Learning with EduPuppets. Very cool and worth the time to view.

TeachingBooks.net

I also attended a webinar on using TeachingBooks with Common Core Standards. If you haven't looked at this resource, you are missing out on a great way to get your students excited about books, authors, and reading. Check out a quick tour of the site.
