The Most Dangerous Game
The Most Dangerous Game
The Setting of The Most Dangerous Game
Definition of setting: Where and when the story takes place. A quote from the story showing setting:"The muttering and growling of the sea breaking onto a rocky shore...Dense jungle came down to the very edge of the cliffs."pg# 15. This is a quote from the story and I chose it because it is the description of the island where the story takes place.
The conflict in The Most Dangerous Game
Definition of Conflict: A struggle between opposing forces. Quote: "I see," he said."Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed.On guard, Rainsford...." pg# 28.I think this quote shows conflict well because it is the end of the story and the way Zaroff is talking you can tell this is the final fight. Also the type of conflict is man vs man.
The Static and Dynamic Characters in The Most Dangerous Game
Definition of static and dynamic characters: In a story dynamic characters are characters that change throughout the story and static characters do not.Quote from Rainsford in the beginning of the story: ""Who cares how a jaguar feels?" "Perhaps the jaguar does," observed Whitney."Bah! They've no understanding."".Then later in the story this is how Rainsford feels about it now."The Cossack was the cat; he was the mouse. Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror. First Quote pg # 14 and pg# 26.I chose these examples because it is a great example of how a characters thoughts change throughout a story.
Foreshadowing in The Most Dangerous Game
Definition of Foreshadowing: It is a literary device in which the author gives an advance hint of what is to come later in the story.A Quote that shows foreshadowing""tonight," said the general,"we will hunt-you and I."Rainsford shook his head."No, general," he said."I will not hunt."pg # 23.This is a good quote because Rainsford doesn't realize that when the general says we will hunt he means he will hunt Rainsford.
