A2 Virtual+ Elementary FAQs
For Enrolled Students
What is Buzz?
Buzz is the online learning platform for A2Virtual+ lessons.
Is there a Buzz app?
Unfortunately there is not an app to access Buzz, but you can create a bookmark in your browser. This tutorial will show you how.
Do A2VE students use Schoology?
Yes. Schoology is the learning platform used by A2VE to access Specials. It is also used by A2VE students to access content if they are enrolled in a course outside of A2V+Elementary or when a student is provided support by a teacher from their home building.
How does Zoom work? Does my child sign up using my account?
Sign in using your child’s AAPS Google account. The Zoom app is preloaded on district iPads. The link for your child’s Monday meeting and teacher office hours are available through the virtual classroom.
To access Special Area Zoom sessions, students must click the link inside of Schoology.
Does my child have a Clever account?
All students, including students enrolled in A2 Virtual+ Elementary, have a Clever account.
Will there be assessments outside of those in Buzz?
Some assessments will require the student and teacher to meet via an appointment to discuss the child’s understanding of concepts. Additionally, students may be required to take assessments mandated by the Michigan Department of Education. For example, in Michigan all students must participate in a benchmark assessment.
If the lessons are self-paced, why are you setting due dates?
We collect assignments weekly to ensure students are staying on task and working towards successfully completing their grade level. There is no penalty for finishing an assignment after the recommended date.
What happens if my child falls behind on the pacing guide?
The pacing guide is intended as a reference and there is no penalty for finishing an assignment after the recommended date. Following the pacing guide as closely as possible, however, will ensure that your child will be on track to finish the grade level work. Teachers will be monitoring student progress and remain in touch to help develop a plan to support your child. In addition, please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have a concern about a specific lesson or the pacing.
If my child is struggling with a lesson, how can s/he get help?
Teachers will be checking in routinely with your child. In addition teachers will host weekly drop in meetings and will return phone calls and emails within twenty-four (business) hours or sooner.
How can I get tech support?
There is a hotline available to all AAPS families. Call (734) 997-1222 for support for your district device and applications. In addition, you may email technology questions to family_techsupport@aaps.k12.mi.us.
