Express and Reflect
This was my first time ever playing football and I was nervous to tryout. I wasn't sure what to expect on the first day. I was nervous because there were some big guys out there that had played before. They gave me the ball and I ran up the middle of the field but little did I know, that's where the linebacker was. He hit me so hard that my helmet came off. That's when I learned not to run straight in front of the linebacker unless I had to.
Inform and Explain
There are two ten yard long end zones at each end of a 100 yard field. There is an offense that tries to score in the end zones. There is also a defense that tries to stop the offense from scoring. On offense, you have four downs to try to get ten yards. If you don't, then the other team gets the football to try to score in the opposite end zone. There are four fifteen minute quarters in the National Football League. In high school football, the quarters are only twelve minutes. Which ever team has the most points at the end of the game wins.
Evaluate and Judge
There are many different football teams in the world but there are some good ones right here in Cleveland County like Burns, Shelby, and Crest High School. All three of these teams have great histories in football and are still doing good today. The NFL obviously has many good teams. Some of the best though are the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.
Inquire and Explore
Football can be traced back all the way to 1892. It originated at universities in North America, but primarily the United States. The first intercollegiate football game was on November 6, 1869. It was between Princeton and Rutgers.
Analyze and Interpret
There are many different areas in football. First of all, there are different positions on the team that each do their own role. There are also specific coaches. Even off of the field, there are still things teams can do to get better like weight training and watching film of other teams.
Take a Stand
There has been some incidents in the NFL that shouldn't have happened. One is that Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback, was caught cheating for deflating the football they used in the Super Bowl. He also lied and did some other things he shouldn't have. There was also a case of domestic violence by a player named Greg Hardy. Both of these players got less punishment than they should have. I want players to stop things like this and I also want the NFL to give people the punishment they deserve.
