Live Your Most Beautiful Life
Hopefully, since you've received several of my Beautycounter newsletters, you're familiar with our mission and our product line. I thought it would be fun this month to share a few of my daily habits for health and happiness.
I put my marriage and family first. I strive to prioritize and be intentional about strengthening these relationships. The seeds that I plant sometimes don't harvest immediately but do in weeks, months and years later.
I choose gratitude. This is one habit that can definitely change my perspective almost immediately. Carving out a few minutes for a daily devotion can really help quiet my soul and give me what I need to choose gratitude instead of comparison or discontentment.
I exercise as often as I can throughout the week. I love to walk, practice yoga, and take Pilates and Barre classes. I love the relationships that I've built through these hours together with friends (and lately with my husband and kids too).
I'm a clean eater. This means to me... embracing foods like vegetables, fruits and whole grains, plus healthy proteins and fats. It also means cutting back on refined grains, added sugars, salt and unhealthy fats. I make myself and my family acia bowls and smoothies all hours of the day and fill them with tons of spinach, berries and nuts and seeds. The Vitamix is a great investment and I highly recommend investing in one.
I am crazy about getting enough sleep. The hours before midnight are the most critical. I'm one of those people that's a mess the next day if I don't get enough sleep... I can't think straight, I feel awful and I'm no fun to be around!
Lastly, I want to share what is on the forefront of my mind daily... if I drop the ball on something (which I do several times a day) which ball will break and which will bounce?
We all balance a lot of balls in the air at any given time. I look at those as glass balls and rubber balls. I keep a watchful eye on the glass balls because they will break if dropped. These are the most important ones: our integrity, our reputation, our marriage and our family. The rubber balls will bounce a bit if dropped and ultimately won't break. These are hours that we volunteer, errands we have to do, calls we need to make etc...
I encourage you to take care of yourself... we all need to have a full cup to be able to love and serve other!
A Few of My Favorite Foods
Avocados have recently been touted as one of the “world’s healthiest foods” thanks to the 20 vitamins and minerals they offer up in each serving, including potassium, lutein, vitamin B, C, & E, and plant chemicals that may help prevent cancer.
Blueberries and Raspberries
Packed full of antioxidants and low in calories and sugar, these are my go-to fruit to toss into oatmeal, yogurt, and baked goods. Even ice cream feels a little healthier when scattered with a handful of these sweet juicy guys.
Almonds
Almonds are a really special nut because they’re comprised of omega-3 fatty acids, which boast numerous health effects including anti-inflammatory components, the ability to decrease blood clotting, reduce blood triglycerides, promote glowing skin, and the list goes on…
Leafy Green
I think of these guys as the king of superfoods — they’re incredibly low in calories and pack a major punch with vitamins A, C, E, and K, an array of minerals and an abundance of phytochemicals. Kale, spinach, and arugula are actually an amazing plant source of calcium too!
Salmon
Salmon is my fave, mainly because it’s so delicious. It’s a great source of omega-3 fatty acids which protect heart health and encourage glowing skin and thick hair.
Eggs
Eggs also contain 12 vitamins and minerals, including choline, which is crucial for brain development and memory.
Broccoli and Asparagus
Chock-full of vitamin A, vitamin C, and bone-building vitamin K.
Sweet Potatoes
Packed full of vitamin A and potassium.
