Upcoming Student Supply Distribution Day (9/17/20)
Moving forward as a District, we will conduct monthly Supply Pick Up days to ensure your child has what they need for Remote Learning. Even when In-Person instruction begins, these pick-ups will still occur for our students that will continue Remote Learning. We will be doing our next supply pick up on Thursday, September 17th from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The supplies this round will mostly consist of math packets and possibly some additional items that the teachers need to send home. It will be in a bag sorted by grade, not specified by student. For ease of distribution, please put a sign in your passenger window stating the grade level supplies you need. Pick up will occur in the front circle off of Ballard Road. If there is a line of cars, please pull all the way forward so traffic isn't blocked on Ballard.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 815-788-5550.

A Message from the School Nurse
Our in-person return to school is fast approaching! October 5th will be here soon; therefore, please be advised that I would prefer kindergarten physicals (including up-to-date immunizations) prior to that date for your student to begin in-person instruction. If you need any health forms from our district website, please click here. The district has extended the first exclusion until October 15th, but if you have the forms, please send them to me using either email address below.
Kindergarten students are also required to have a vision exam, due by October 15th and a dental exam due by May 15th. Please send those to me when completed at Ajkeegan@d47.org or wesmedrecords@d47.org. (I will be checking both daily.) If you have any questions regarding required health office paperwork, please feel free to email me or call me at 815-788-5555. I look forward to meeting your kindergartner! If you have already turned in your paperwork, thank you and disregard this reminder.
Grab-and-Go Breakfast and Lunch
On August 31, 2020, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Illinois State Board of Education announced a decision to extend the free summer lunch program for students under the age of 18. Starting September 15th, District 47 will provide FREE grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for students (regardless of free/reduced lunch status) who live within District 47 boundaries. The program is expected to continue through December 2020 pending funding availability.
Given this change, there will be no need to continue pre-ordering meals or provide student identification during pick-up. Starting September 15th, District 47 will distribute food weekly on Tuesdays at two D47 schools. Meals will include both breakfast and lunch items for the week with an option to reheat and serve some items at a later time. See below for details:
FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Dates: Tuesdays (starting September 15, 2020)
Times: 7:30am-10am; 3pm-6pm
Locations:
Hannah Beardsley Middle School (515 E. Crystal Lake Ave.)
Canterbury Elementary School* (875 Canterbury Dr.)
*New distribution location: east entrance by food pantry
For everyone’s health and safety, food will be distributed as a “drive-up” service. Parents/guardians will be asked to drive up to the distribution location at the school and open their trunks so bags can be placed there rather than inside the car. If your child has any food allergies, please check the nutritional labels on food items.
Lunch menus
Lunch menus can be accessed via the District 47 mobile app and are also available on the Sodexo website:
Free and reduced lunch applications/fee waivers
Families who believe they are eligible for free and reduced lunch for their student(s) are still encouraged to fill out an application on the District 47 website. Note: Families must be approved for free lunch prior to being eligible for fee waivers.
Questions about food distribution can be directed to the District 47 Business Office at 815-788-5021.
