THINGS TO KNOW AND DO
JMUN
Hello Sixth Graders! Junior Model United Nations, or JMUN, is looking for new delegates for our team. If you’re interested in learning more about how global problems are solved, are willing to do some serious research and writing, and enjoy convincing others to work together, JMUN may be for you. Students need to be committed to a full year of earning A’s and B’s, and E’s and M’s for citizenship. At the end of May, students from all grade levels participate in a mock United Nations Conference and compete against schools from across Southern California.
Most 6th grade advisory classes will be getting a short pitch from returning delegates on Tuesday, September 5 and Thursday, September 7. Listen carefully to the presentation, feel free to ask questions, and if this sounds right for you, use the following link to apply. https://forms.gle/F3DWVj4BFSVGmxdJA
*Space is limited, so not everyone who applies will be accepted! Give your best effort on the application!
World Expeditions of San Diego, East Coast Trip
Are you an 8th grader interested in seeing the East Coast with your friends?
Some of the place we visit are…
- Boston Freedom Trail
- Central Park
- Broadway Show
- Gettysburg
- Mt. Vernon
- & much more!
Our first informational meeting for parents and 8th graders is Thursday, September 14, at 6 pm in the Lewis Auditorium. This trip is hosted by World Expeditions of San Diego. For more info, please contact Ms. Provins at tprovins@sandi.net. Hope to see you there!
Note from the Health Office
If a student requires medication like an inhaler, there MUST be a physician’s order on file in the health office. Even if the student will carry the medication with them in their backpack, orders MUST be verified by the nurse first. Please see page 13 in the student planner for all policies regarding medication at school.
In order for absences to be excused when leaving early due to illness, a student MUST be evaluated by a member of the health office first. Per school policy, all absences that occur if a student contacts their parent independently are considered unexcused.
