Findley Flyer 9/03/2020
Findley Oaks Elementary-Home of the Findley Falcons!
We are looking forward to welcoming many of our students during phase I. I realize that it is a family decision to decide face-to-face or remote and we will continue to support all students both remotely and face-to-face. I am including the reopening matrix that was shared at the last board meeting to show what the various phases look like. Once we have more information regarding the next phase, we will communicate with you.

Campus Parent Portal
Campus Parent provides parents with access to their student’s grades, attendance, and assignments. The district goal is that at least one parent for each student has a Campus Portal account. If our records indicate that no one in your family has an account, we will be sending an email to you explaining how to create an account. The email will come from infinitecampus@fultonschools.org and will include an access key specific to you. This email could end up in your spam/junk folder so please be on the look out for it. We have heard that this is the case many times if you have a Gmail account.
You will need to know your child's ID number. If you do not know this number, please email Chriss Kolls at kollsc@fultonschools.org. Include in your email your child’s name and a phone number where you can be reached. Ms.Kolls will call you to share your child’s ID number.
If you do not get an email from us, our records indicate that at least one parent has an account.

Digital Citizenship
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Technology plays an increasingly larger role in the lives of students at school and at home. While students are often quite adept at using tech tools, navigating the online world can sometimes be more complicated. We are working with all K-5 students to develop strong Digital Citizenship skills so that they can successfully use technology to enhance their learning and their lives as they grow older.
All K-5 students will receive Digital Citizenship instruction during the first few weeks of the school year. As a part of their instruction, they learn about the FCS Acceptable Use Policy and consequences for inappropriately using technology at school, including during Universal Remote Learning.
Please take a moment to review the FCS Acceptable Use Policy and sign it.
Click here to read the policy. (Do not print out and sign 2nd page)
Click here to complete the online form to sign it.
The deadline to review the policy and complete the online form is Friday, September 11.
School-based instruction is just one component to developing good digital citizens. I highly encourage all parents and guardians to play an active role in your student’s use of technology at home. The Common Sense Web site, https://www.commonsense.org , has excellent parent resources.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Continuous Achievement
Due to the waiving of Continuous Achievement in Spring 2020, all students in grades K-8 will be screened for potential advancement and/or acceleration in reading and mathematics. Kindergarten students will only be screened for acceleration in reading and/or math. Students in grades 1-8 will be screened for advancement and/or acceleration in reading and mathematics. Students are placed in the appropriate curriculum based on performance on standardized tests, screening assessments, student grades, diagnostic placement assessments when applicable, and the teacher’s recommendation. We will begin screening students on August 24, 2020 as the administration window of the i-Ready diagnostic opens. Students in grades 2-5 who are recommended for a placement change will receive notification by Friday, September 25, 2020. Placement changes for students in grades K-1 will only be made upon our return to face-to-face instruction.
