Welcome!

Kia ora Social Scientists
The year is coming to a close. Here are a few resources to explore with students during these last few days (or early next year if you’re fortunate enough to have finished up already . . .)
2016 will see some differences in our provision area. Margaret Leamy is leaving us as the National Co-ordinator and is heading to St Peter's in Palmerston North as their new Deputy Principal. Margaret’s contribution to the social science community over many years has been invaluable. She has worked tirelessly behind the scenes lobbying for our cause, leading workshops, creating resources and sharing her expertise. The National Co-ordinator's role will be taken over jointly by Gill Hanna (Central North and North) and Lara Hearn-Rollo (Central South and South) and together we will do our very best to fill Margaret's shoes! Our Central North and North facilitator, Stephanie Ashton is also moving on to an SLT role at Melville High School in Hamilton and we wish her all the very best as well. We hope to announce who has taken over as facilitators in Central South/South and Central North/North soon.
Have a well-earned and restful holiday break (and don’t forget to send through links of any worthwhile websites you may discover during the holiday period!)

Story Maps
There’s lots to explore in these maps – some of them are especially relevant given the Summit meeting in Paris at the moment
An Awfully Big Adventure
There has been an excellent series on WW1 (‘An Awfully Big Adventure’) on the Nine to Noon National Radio programme. Each programme is 12 minutes long and features the voices of veterans talking about their experiences. I’m not sure how long it remains on the Radio NZ webpage but would be a wonderful resource for students.
