Grant News

With the weather getting colder....
We love to get the kids outside when we can. We will go outside for recess anytime it is above 10 degrees outside (including the wind chill). Please help your child remember that when getting ready for school in the mornings.
School Closing for Bad Weather
If we decide to call off school, you will receive a phone call from our automated service. You will also be able to hear/see the news on our local radio and television stations. We do our best to make an informed decision as early as possible.
Reading Challenge
We do have a school-wide goal of reading 20 million words again this year. Last year, as an incentive, I told the kids that I would kiss a pig if we met that goal. We did and then I did. (See below!)
But they don't know what the incentive is! But on a bulletin board, we have a clue to what the end-of-the-year incentive is. And everytime our kids read 1 million words, we turn over another letter in the clue. We have 7 letters revealed now and some of the students are really wondering what the prize will be! They need to keep reading to find out!
December PTO meeting is Dec. 4!
You can read the minutes of our meetings on our district website---norfolkpublicschools.com and click on the "Grant" tab. From there, click the PTO tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

Our Grant Creed
I am responsible.
I am safe.
I am prepared.
We are here to learn;
Therefore, I will do nothing to keep the teacher from teaching
and anyone, myself included, from learning.
I will cooperate with all school people.
I will respect myself, others, and the environment.
By acting in this way, I am capable, connecting and contributing!
I will have a great day!
