Application Checklist for Freshmen and Transfer Students
Steps to Admission: Incoming Freshmen
TIMELINE: Please complete Steps 1-5 as soon as possible.

STEP 2: SHADOW DAY / OPEN HOUSE Register Here
- Shadow days begin in October 2019 and run through March 2020.
Shadow Day begins at 8:30 AM and ends at 3:00 PM.
Daytime Open House is 9-11 AM. Evening Open House is 6-7:30 PM.
STEP 3: PLACEMENT TESTING (required of all incoming Freshmen) Register Here
- 2019 Testing dates are December 5, 6, 7
Top scorers from December testing are eligible for a SMHS merit scholarship.
- $25 testing fee will apply towards the $50 Application Fee, should the student apply.
STEP 4: COMPLETE "TADS" FOR TUITION PAYMENTS / TUITION ASSISTANCE
TADS (Tuition Aid Data Services) serves two purposes:
- Pay tuition through monthly payments.
- Determine eligibility for Tuition Assistance. An Offer of Tuition Assistance from SMHS is awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
The TADS application process for SMHS opens December 1, 2019. The deadline for tuition assistance is January 31, 2020. The admissions application must also be completed by this date in order to be considered for the first round of tuition assistance.
STEP 5: APPLY TO SMHS
3 Teacher Recommendations - Math, Science, English. Use this link to the form.
Report Card - 7th grade Final and 8th grade First Semester report cards. Scanned copy can be emailed to Admissions@SMHScs.org.
Immunization Records - email a scanned copy to Admissions@SMHScs.org.
Application Fee - $25 (since you already paid $25 for HSPT).
Recent Photo of Student - must be a clear image of student ONLY, showing head and shoulders, squarely facing the camera. No dark glasses, filters, etc. Max file size is 5MB. If photo is scanned, the resulting file must print as a 2" x 2" image or larger. Cropped images must show only head and shoulders. Images may be emailed to: Admissions@SMHScs.org.
If your application is received by January 31, 2020, you will receive an acceptance packet by the end of February. Tuition assistance offers will be sent with this packet if your application was completed by January 31, 2020.
STEP 6: UPON ACCEPTANCE, a packet will be mailed to you.
Return paperwork and fee to Admissions Office:
- Course Request, signed.
- Tuition Contract, signed.
- Offer of Tuition Assistance, signed (if applicable).
- Registration Fee of $500.
Student's classes will be scheduled when registration fee has been paid and forms in acceptance packet have been completed and received.
2019-2020 tuition is $10,200 plus Enrollment Fee.
How to decrease your tuition fee:
- Purchase SCRIP. A percentage of the SCRIP profit is applied as a discount to your next year’s tuition.
- Pay tuition in full by June 15, 2019. $300 discount if paid by cash or check. Or $150 discount if paid by credit card. Tuition assistance recipients do not qualify for this discount.
- One-half tuition paid by June 15 and 2nd half by November 15, 2019. $150 discount off 2nd payment if paid by cash or check. Or $75 discount off 2nd payment if paid by credit card. Tuition assistance recipients do not qualify for this discount.
- TADS. Apply for Tuition Assistance (see directions above).

Transcript - request that an official transcript be mailed to St. Mary's High School, attn: Admissions, 2501 E. Yampa St, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
