Brooker Creek Elementary
Happy Friday, Bobcat Families!
It's been another great week at school. As we have started to see an increase in our area of COVID-19 cases, please remember to monitor yourself and your child closely for symptoms each day. If someone in your home has tested positive or is waiting for test results students should not be coming to school. Please visit the district website for specific information or contact us at school.https://www.pcsb.org/Page/32652
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Stay well,
Mrs. Mekler
Hearing and Vision Screening on November 17th and 18th
Per State Requirements, every student in kindergarten and first grade will have a vision and hearing screening done. Every student in third grade will have a vision screening done. Due to Covid-19, we did not have our vision and hearing screening completed for the 2019-2020 school year, therefore a vision screening will be performed on all 4th-grade students as well.
Please be advised that if you want your child to be excluded from any of these screenings, we must receive a written request from the Parent/Guardian, to the School, for the Attention of the School Nurse as soon as possible before this screening date.
Thank you!
Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
Please take a moment to read the following safety reminders carefully. We need your help in ensuring that everyone is as safe as possible during our arrival and dismissal.
- Please do not use your cellphone while in our carline. We have a lot of things going on during arrival and dismissal each day and we need your full attention to keep our students safe.
- Please encourage your child to have his/her face mask ready to put on when they exit the car. It is best to have a couple of backup face masks in your child's backpack each day. When a child forgets a facemask, we provide a disposable face mask for them for the day.
- Please make sure that your child and/or our staff member is back up on the sidewalk before pulling away. We have seen some near accidents in recent days and that extra few seconds will make all of the difference in the safety of our students and staff.
- Please make sure to use both lanes in the carline at arrival and dismissal. This is important to make sure we keep our traffic backup to a minimum on Forelock Road.
We thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping our carline moving!
PTA Updates
All Reflections entries are due on Monday, November 9th. The entry packet must be included with the entry. Please make sure it is filled out completely. The entry packet is included below. We can't wait to see all of the entries from our Bobcats this year.
Recess Reboot
Recess planning is underway. We met with Mrs. Mekler this week and are looking to start adding different pieces to the recess area. We are narrowing down our items to include things that can be used now and items that will be used more with the COVID restrictions are lifted. We will keep you updated as work is being done on campus.
General Meeting
We will be having a general meeting on Monday, November 16th @ 7:30 to approve changes to our PTA bylaws. The link to the meeting is below. We hope you will be able to join us.
Cafe Updates
We are continuing to ask our BCE families to preorder meals when possible. When parents spend a few minutes pre-ordering their child’s lunch, it allows our cafe team to plan ahead. These forms allow us to break the meals out by the teacher and have them ready when the students come into the lunchroom and reduce the amount of time they have to spend in line. Pre-ordered meals also help us to reduce waste by only making food that is needed based on the orders.
