Culinary Dept host Girl Scout Troop #269
After school on Monday, February 8, 2016 Girl Scout Tro0p #269 came to BGHS/Culinary/Foods Department to cook a meal under the direction of Phyllis Sweatt and students - Helen Le (Culinary class) and Kobie Duncan (Foods class).
Lana Priest is the group leader / sponsor.
The students were shown a demonstration and then prepared the meal.
MENU: Chicken Quedallia
Chessy Garlic Green Beans

Students worked and prepared the entire meal with a little assistance as needed by parents, Ms. Sweatt, Helen or Kobie.

BGHS Speech Team Pulls of 1st Regional Championship in over a Decade
The BGHS Speech Team pulled off an amazing win Saturday at the BG Regional Speech Tournament. For the first time in over a decade, the Purples are Regional Speech Champions. The win is impressive because the smaller BG team was able to defeat the defending region champs who had over twice as many competitors as the 6 member BG team made up of all freshmen.
In addition to the team sweepstakes win, several BG students walked away as regional champions or runners-up in their individual events.
· Sean Compton—Regional Champion in Broadcasting
· Zack Martin—Regional Champion in Program Oral Interpretation
· Annika Avula—Regional Runner-up in Declamation, Broadcasting, and Impromptu
· Cole Vaughan—Regional Champion in H.I., Poetry, and Runner-up in Storytelling
· Catherine Harris—Regional Champion in Declamation
All 6 team members including Josh Hall have qualified for the Kentucky High School Speech League state tournament at UK in March.
