Message from the Principal
Welcome to another term of exciting learning and engagement within our wonderful St Anthony's community! I trust that you all had a pleasant and spiritual Easter break and that you had the opportunity to cherish some quality family moments away from the usual school routines.
This past Tuesday, we observed Anzac Day, which honours the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli on April 25, 1915. It's a time for us to contemplate the effects of war, conflict, and peacekeeping operations in Australia's history and to offer our prayers for all those involved in wars, their loved ones, and the pursuit of peace.
Each April, we strive to bring greater attention to autism and how it impacts individuals who are autistic. This initiative is not only about comprehending autism but also embracing neurodiversity, recognising and valuing differences in how individuals process information and interact with the world around them. We will wear blue attire on Friday to show our support for World Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month.
Moreover, this is a time to celebrate the fact that we are all unique. Our individual strengths, abilities, and challenges make us distinct from one another. It's important to remember that it's okay to be different.
Please remember the students who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in your prayers. Our Year 6 students will participate in their Confirmation Retreat on May 19 and receive the sacrament on May 27th and 28th.
Please mark your calendars for Friday, May 12, as we will be hosting a special Mass and breakfast in honour of Mother's Day. All mothers, grandmothers and mother figures are invited to attend. The breakfast will commence at 7:45am and be followed by Mass at 8:50am. This event is open to everyone, and we hope to see you all there.
Interviews for 2024/2025 Kindy places are continuing this term. There is significant demand for places at St Anthony's School, so please ensure that if you or someone close to you intends to send their child to our school in 2024/2025, they have completed and submitted an application form.
Additionally, we're excited to announce that we have commenced the second day of our 3+ Kindy program on Thursdays. If you have a child who will be turning three years old this year and are interested in enrolling them, please complete and submit an application form. Limited spots are still available.
Student Code of Conduct
We are delighted to inform you that our student council have been actively involved in the development of the Student Code of Conduct. At the end of last term, the students collaborated with the school leadership team to develop a comprehensive and inclusive code that reflects the values and expectations of our school community.
This process has provided a valuable opportunity for our students to exercise leadership skills, critical thinking and a sense of responsibility towards creating a positive school culture. We are very proud of our students' contributions. The student leaders will have an opportunity to discuss the Student Code of Conduct with the students at an upcoming assembly. Please see below for the updated Student Code of Conduct.
Thank you for your continued support.

HEART WEEK ❤️ 1st to 7th 2023
Heart Week is Australia’s national heart health awareness campaign held in the first week of May each year. It provides an opportunity for health professionals and the Australian public to start a conversation about heart health and take positive steps to reduce heart disease risk.
For this year’s Heart Week, we are encouraging Australians to do three simple things to look after their heart:
- Check your blood pressure
- Use the Heart Age Calculator to understand their risk of heart disease; and
- Book a Heart Health Check with your GP.

Please place bags in the collection boxes provided near the walkway closest to the library or the patio in the lower primary.
Bread tags can also be given to Mrs Shenton in Kindy Gold or the office.

Whole School News
Our students are always trying to do our best and work together with others to make the world a better place. We do this by:
Being united so that we can achieve so much more when we work together towards a common goal.
Remembering to always give our personal best, whether it's at school, on the sports field, or with our family and friends.
Jesus was a great example of someone who showed love and kindness to everyone, and we strive to be like him by showing acceptance and respect towards others.
It's also important to embrace diversity and differences, as it makes the world a more interesting and exciting place.
This term we will try even harder to work together to make our school a happier and more peaceful place by being united, giving our personal best, being like Jesus, accepting others, respecting everyone, and embracing diversity and difference.

Mater Dei College is proud to present the production of Back to the 80s!
From the era that brought the world the Rubik's Cube and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes this "totally awesome musical" in the style of movies such as Back To The Future, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Karate Kid and The Wedding Singer.
A pop culture trip down memory lane, Back To The 80s tells the story of the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they live through their final senior year, as remembered and seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, now 30-something.
Come along and enjoy a nostalgic romp through the decade's greatest hits, such as 'Video Killed the Radio Star', 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', 'Love Shack', 'Footloose' and '(I've Had) The Time of My Life'.
Tickets are available via this link https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=1030157&, by going to the Mater Dei College website and clicking the Back to the 80s button or directly through the Facebook event, located on the Mater Dei College Facebook page.
