First Job Squad
Saturday, Nov. 14th, 8:30am
200 Atchison Street
Our Methodist Men sponsor “First Job Squad” TOMORROW!
Who? You don’t have to be a man to be a member of the Job Squad. All you need is to be willing and able to help other church members when a need arises.
What? The Job Squad will have two purposes:
- To respond to an immediate need, say a strong wind blows down limbs in a member’s yard.
- To meet routine needs, like changing light bulbs for someone who should not be up on a ladder anymore.
Where? At the homes of members of First UMC, Sealy
When? The first scheduled Job Squad Day is Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015. We will meet at the church at 8:30 am and go from there.
Why? To share the love God has so generously bestowed on us. As Christians, we are family, and families take care of family.
So, what am I really asking you to do? First, if you are willing and able to help when needs arise; sign up to be a part of the Squad. You can do that by contacting James Schroeder, the pastor, or the church office. We will notify you when an immediate need comes up. If you are available to help, just show up and we will get the job done. We are also planning days when the Job Squad will do those everyday things around homes of members who just need a little help. We are not sure if we are going to schedule these days quarterly, or twice a year. We will measure the response and again, get the job done. On these scheduled work days, we will “do lunch” at a local establishment when we are done.
We need one more thing to make this all work. If you are one of those who might need a little help from your brothers and sisters in Christ, let us know. We have folks who want to be in ministry in this way, and you can do your part by letting them.
I look forward to this new opportunity of fulfilling the vision to be a church that cares for the needs of our church and local community through prayer, deeds, inspiration, and love in the spirit of Christ. Pastor Curtis

Children's Church Update... from Nicole Poenitzsch
Our new Children's Church schedule is a hit! We deeply appreciate all who have prayerfully considered how to help the children of First UMC Sealy, whether through teaching, organizing events, praying, or offering to volunteer with our Sunday school classes. The children of First UMC are a valuable part of our congregation ... they are the future!
We remain dedicated to providing children a safe, welcome place to grow in Christian faith. We have reviewed curriculum, restructured classes & programs, and continue to grow.
We also recognize the need for teachers to take a Sunday off for family events and to fill their own spirit in church. So once again, we ask the congregation to consider volunteering to work with the children of First UMC. Whether you are comfortable being the lead instructor, or would rather be the second person (or helper), whether you like elementary students or pre-teens, whether you can volunteer once a month or every week, WE HAVE A SPOT FOR YOU!
PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL if you can volunteer in the next few months.
