Thought for the Week...

Dear Unami,

Despite the many demands placed on teachers, it has always been my experience that they are always looking for ways in which they can do more than is asked for the benefit of their students. On Tuesday, Unami students will have the opportunity to meet and discuss literature with a visiting author, Mrs. Holly Black. This is but one example of how Unami teachers reach beyond the scope of their job requirements to ensure that our students have a wealth of experiences. Thank you to our own Holly for organizing this event!

On January 27th we will have our second Unami United School-Wide Assembly. John and I met with the student council leaders on Friday to brainstorm a joint (student/teacher) activity for the assembly. I am excited to announce their idea of a dance competion. No worries about polishing your moves, as the competition is for the "worst" dancing couple. This was something done at our Magazine Disruption Day and the kids really enjoyed it. We will be dancing to the beat of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off"! All student council leaders have already volunteered. We would love to have student representatives from all forums out on the dance floor along with MANY of their teachers. John and I will be asking at team meetings for volunteers.

Welcome to a few new faces at Unami! First, Justin Hall, a Unami favorite has returned to us for the spring semester. Justin is filling in during Abby's leave and we know Team Journey students are in good hands. We also have two student teachers joining us, Jade Maldonado is working with Rebekah in Spanish, and Madison Fiakowski is working with Jim in social studies. Welcome, Justin, Jade and Madison!

Have a great week!
