June 2021 News
Dear RBK families,
It is hard to believe the month of June is upon us! I wanted to give you an update on how the four day in person model is going. Students are taking frequent mask breaks outdoors, weather permitting. Students may take water breaks and mask breaks in the hallway throughout the day. Please feel free to send your child to school with a water bottle. We are encouraging everyone to hydrate several times a day. If your child does not have a water bottle, we have a water station set up outside the dining hall. I would like to thank our lunch monitors for their hard work with managing eating in the dining hall. Some classes are eating outdoors on tarps when the weather cooperates. Please cross your fingers the weather will remain sunny and cool!
Our RBK Safety Team has met to discuss options to explore to keep the students and staff as cool as possible. A plan is being devised for a Heat and Humidity Plan. An industrial sized fan has been delivered to RBK. We are exploring a refuge room for classes to go to cool down. Our classrooms will be receiving cool air prior to school opening on the hot days. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately following the LCSD Code of Conduct dress code and most importantly they are comfortable and cool!
I would like to thank all of our remote families for their hard work and dedication! I was amazed how well this new model took off. I think our teachers and students were UNBELIEVABLE! I truly was impressed with the collaboration and teamwork! I am looking for your feedback, both positive and negative. It is uncertain at this time what the Fall 2021 will bring. I value your input on how we can enhance this model. Please call or email me with your suggestions.
Masks are REQUIRED on school property for all families. Please make sure you and your child are wearing masks. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I wish you all the best! I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable summer! I am so excited to have summer school in the building this year! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns about next school year. I always enjoy visitors if you are in the neighborhood!

Mrs. Walton

The Kindness Club
The Kindness Club is working on cleaning up the Kindness Garden with the help of Mr. Nick. We are weeding, spreading out the rocks, painting new rocks, and hope to mulch. Although gardening can be a lot of work, doing it together makes it fun. It's a great time for the students to have conversations and learn about how much time, effort, and care goes into growing plants.
