A Message From Our Superintendent
Dear GPISD School Community,
I hope this newsletter finds each of you and your families doing well and enjoying good health. Those of you who follow the news know that the guidance provided to local school districts across the nation and state changes often, sometimes several times a day. With that in mind, please know your school leaders are well-informed with up-to-the-minute information, which is considered along with our local community needs to make decisions that impact your child(ren)'s education.
Please continue to visit our School Reopening page on the GPISD website for the latest information about our Return to Learn 2020 plan. Thank you for your continued support, and please continue to wash your hands, mask up, and maintain social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our households and community.
Be Safe,
John C. Moore, Ed.D
Superintendent of Schools
Technology Plan
To support our students and families with our additional Digital Learning initiatives, we will
begin checking out technology devices (Chromebooks, chargers, and protective covers)
to students, in phases, for use during the school year.
Until all Chromebooks which have been ordered arrive, some students will be asked to use their personal devices. Because we will be exhausting our supply of devices at the schools, students in grades 1-12 who participate in face-to-face instruction may be asked to bring their device to school as needed for instruction. The completion of the 3-phase process to issue devices will ensure all GPISD students will have the technology they need to be successful.
Prior to checking out a device, parents are asked to:
1. Complete the online Technology Loan Agreement Form (please complete before Aug.13)
2. Attend/ complete a Parent Orientation for Digital Learning
Pre-Kindergarten Online Registration
P-EBT Deadline Extended to August 21, 2020!
If your family received SNAP benefits for the month of March this year and you have children between the ages of 5 and 18, YOU DO NOT NEED TO APPLY.
Everyone else must apply to get P-EBT benefits. (This includes if you applied for SNAP benefits in April or May.)
Complete the entire application to see if your child is eligible. Answering all questions will help us process your application more quickly.
Applications will be processed in the order they are received. The P-EBT amount for each eligible child is up to $285.00.
If your household currently receives SNAP and you are eligible for P-EBT benefits, they will be put on your current Lone Star Card. If you are not currently receiving SNAP, we will mail you a new card with P-EBT benefits.
A child is eligible for only one P-EBT benefit, even if they are a part of multiple households. P-EBT benefits are nontransferable.
New Student Enrollment
The following Documents are required for New Student Enrollment:
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- Parent/Guardian's driver's license or passport

A Song to Brighten your day!
Adam Bendorf and Ryan Rogers, assistant choir directors at North Shore Senior High School (NSSHS), created a virtual choir made up of THREE DECADES of NSSHS choir students, Class of 1992 to 2020!

SchoolCafe
The Galena Park I.S.D. Student Nutrition Department will be utilizing SchoolCafé for the 2020-2021 school year. GPISD continues to be a C.E.P. (all students eat both breakfast and lunch for free) district for the school year. SchoolCafé is part of our upgraded software system allowing you to make payments, view your child’s meal history, receive account alerts, and view daily menu options from your cell phone or home computer.
Please note: CTE Early College High School is not a C.E.P campus. In order for your child to receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch, you will need to fill out the meal application using the SchoolCafe app.
August Curbside Meals Calendar
Curbside breakfasts and lunches will be distributed only three days per week, with multiple meals being provided at each distribution.
Meals will be distributed at the same sites, but only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
