1st Annual STEAM Student Conference
BC Rain hosted it’s 1st Annual STEAM Student Conference. This year’s conference theme was “Designing Your Future” as the students are challenged to complete real world applications and share their information during their presentations on STEAM-based projects. The STEAM Student Conference is an opportunity for students to engage in real world applications, showcase their knowledge and network with those on the collegiate arena, business and/or industry. While most know the STEAM acronym; few understand the synergy of a STEAM Education. STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses each of these areas as modes of inquiry and exploration to creatively approach and address real world challenges. STEAM Education promotes innovation and thinking outside the box. The conference allowed students to not just apply the knowledge in real-world applications, but in areas of personal research interest.
Typically, the E and A stands for engineering and the arts. However, there are 2 other critical areas that transformed my acronym which is Science, Technology, Environmental, Agriculture and Mathematics. We believe deeply in the potential of STEAM education to empower young people with the 21st century skills needed to improve the world we live in. As such, we are deeply committed to seeing it advance. It is my hope to connect students with the ideas and tools to spur innovation, whether students are a STEAM beginner or STEAM certified.
At B.C. Rain, along with a shared commitment from diverse stakeholders, we have tried to model practical exposure and participation in the STEAM Student Conference. Red Raider Nation hope to inspire not only other students, but the community by drawing participation and building morale within the communities serviced by B.C. Rain High School. Through their presentations and your voices, students will have meaningful connections and it is our goal for you to leave feeling challenged and inspired.

The Red Raider Battalion participated in the annual Spring Camping Trip held at Blakley State Park on April 8th-9th. Twenty Cadets packed their gear, braved the cold temperatures, ate real Army MREs, made S’mores by the campfire, slept under the stars and had some great fellowship with cadets from other schools in the district. Overall, it was a great time for everyone involved and we are looking forward to another great trip next year!

Interviews for Success
On Wednesday 4/28/2022, the Business Technology students had the opportunity to complete a mock interview. Students presented folders where they had worked on cover setters and resumes and some pictures of their actual work (barbering, cosmetology and make-up artist) to provide to the interviewer. This mock interview gave each student the opportunity to talk with different entrepreneurs in Mobile, AL of their choosing. They were able to experience one on one feedback and to open doors of opportunity for them in areas which they will be pursing this summer....cosmetology, music producing, make-up artist, real estate, and more. The students were highly complimented on how well they spoke and dressed for the mock interview. Students were also able to network with the different interviewer guests.
