Morning Meeting Ideas

Match Card Greeting

  1. Give each student a card on which you've written part of an equation. For example, one student gets a card that says "50 – 35"; another student gets one that says "= 15."

  2. Students move around trying to find the match for their card.

  3. When students find their match, they greet each other. A simple "Hello" or "Good morning" is fine.

  4. Students sit with their matching partner in the order of an equation, visible to the rest of the circle. For example, the student with the "50 – 35" card sits to the right of the student with the "= 15 card."

  5. Going around the circle, students announce their equation while holding up their cards so all can see.

Retention Checkpoint #1

If you suspect a student might be a retention candidate at this time, please do the following:

Schedule conference to share concerns with parent(s) and begin documentation. Complete a KIT Referral (contact Dr. Richardson for further information regarding the KIT/Retention process).

Cool School!

On Friday, November 20, 2015, Killian will be on “Cool Schools” with WIS TV. We will be asking for many of our students to arrive at school by 4:30 AM. WIS will have our school on its morning show throughout the early morning. We are planning to purchase t-shirts for all students for this occasion. We will need your cooperation to get as many students as possible to school for this event. A special breakfast will be prepared for everyone who attends.

Textbook Checks

Please make sure all of your students have their correct textbooks. If there are any issues of missing books, please contact the student’s parent and let Mrs. Murray know.

Professional Leave

We are so fortunate to be able to offer various professional development opportunities to our teachers. We enjoy being able to offer these experiences, but we want to make sure it is documented correctly for our records. Please adhere to the following steps to ensure your professional development is entered in correctly.

If you have gone to any PD previously this year, please make sure your have filled out the PD form from Ms. Diggs and have submitted it in MyHR.

For future PD leave requests:

  1. Can sign up first in PD Express if needed

  2. Request to be off campus to attend PD from Dr. Scotland. This is just a conversation.

  3. Once Dr. Scotland has said, “YES” then, complete the PD form from Ms. Diggs

  4. Ms. Sheftman will request a sub for you, but please make sure Mrs. Sheftman is aware that you will be out for Professional Development.

  5. Make sure you submit the PD in MyHR.

Thanks so much for your attention to this matter.

Techie of the Week!

Mrs. Porter’s Techie of the Week goes to Kasey Branham! Mrs. Branham began her first Math blended unit after the district inservice and dove in. She also used an article from DOGO news and her students used 2 column notes to eventually create a summary of the article. Lastly, Check out her student E-books that are being created this week! Great Job Mrs. Branham with integrating technology in Math and ELA in a fun way.
