What Do They Do?
The State Department assists people in international travel, international trade, coordinates meetings between the us and ambassadors, and keeps the public informed, because an informed public is a cooperative public!
When?
The US Department of State was established on July 27, 1789 (the first executive department!) They participate in serving the nation when events involve foreign countries and international travel.
Where Are They Located?
The US Department of State is located in the Harry Truman building on C Street in downtown Washington DC, only a few blocks away from the White House.
Why Do They Do It?
The State Department does this to ensure the safety of US citizens, both in and out of the US, and to promote peace and cooperation with foreign countries (maintain diplomacy).
