Worthington Kilbourne Weekly News
Week of November 8, 2021
Worthington Kilbourne High School, once again, shows its commitment to the greater school community with our annual Trick-or-Canning food drive to support our local food pantry. Our student leaders encourage and celebrate student participation and we continue to build a positive and inclusive culture in our building. It takes consistent effort and many hands to carry on the excellence we have grown to expect from our school. This is just one example, of the many, that students and staff are committed to one another and the folks we serve.
In related news, our students and staff are gearing up for two more compassion projects. We have our Thanksgiving meals, donated by the Worthington Presbyterian Church, that we help coordinate and deliver to families coming up later this month and we have our Holiday Compassion project in December. Again, we empower our students and staff to get involved with these events. Giving back seems like the necessary thing to do for a community that is gracious and allows us to serve their families with many resources with which to work.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Aric Thomas, Principal / athomas@wscloud.org / 614-450-6400

Guidelines from the Health Office: When to keep a student home from school
As we return to a normal schedule with all students attending school daily it is extremely important NOT to send your student to school if they are sick and not feeling well. A daily health check is required for parents and students to complete each morning prior to school.
Daily Home COVID-19 "Before School" Screening
Guidance for Daily Home Screening

The COVID-19 protocols will be strictly enforced to ensure a healthy environment for our students and staff.
Your child needs to be kept home if any of the following symptoms are present.

A message from Principal Thomas
Dear Kilbourne Family,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate your child(ren) in our district.
You recently received information about your child(ren) being asked to participate in an online Social Emotional Learning (SEL) survey.
New this year, we are asking families to participate in the Family-School Relationships Survey, a 20-minute survey, where you have the chance to tell us about your experiences with us as a school district. We want to better understand you and your families’ needs so that we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of all our students.
We are partnering with Panorama Education, a third-party vendor, to support us in administering this survey. This is the same partner that administers our student SEL surveys.
The survey shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete and will also be administered during the same two-week window as the student surveys -- from November 8 - November 19, 2021.
Please note the following:
You will NOT need an access code. Once the survey is live on November 8, you will be able to just click the link to access the survey.
You will not be able to “stop and save” your responses. So, please set aside a time where you can complete the survey in one sitting.
If you have children at multiple schools, you will have to take a survey for each school.
Please click here to view the flyer with more details.
Respectfully,
Aric Thomas, Principal
Delaware Area Career Center Open House / Thursday, Dec. 2 / 4:30 - 7:30 pm
To better manage the flow of visitors in the building, this year's open house will be broken down into two sessions, or two "waves" of guests. Each student may be accompanied by one guest/parent. Families will be asked to pre-register for one of the two sessions: 4:30-6:00, or 6:00-7:30 p.m. Open House info can be found here.
Senior Project 2022 / Planning begins now!
Do you think your senior would benefit from completing an internship experience during school hours before graduation? Click here to go to our website or contact Mrs. Stubenrauch for more details - jstubenrauch@wscloud.org.
Parents of Class of 2022 / Cap & Gown order reminder
Parents of the Class of 2022: Production and shipping times are slowing down the supply of our caps and gowns for the Class of 2022, so it would be extremely helpful if orders could be placed early rather than waiting until the last minute. The final "last minute" deadline for all orders will be January 31st, to ensure cap & gown delivery well before the ceremony on May 22, 2022 at Noon in the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus.
Note: if your graduate was hoping to wear a sibling's gown from 2020 or earlier, our company will exchange the older cap and gown for the new style when you purchase the 2022 tassel or cap and tassel. On the Buckeye Scholastic website, scroll down to Questions & Answers for details about trading in an older gown.
