Wireless connections
these are the main wireless connections
Bluetooth
Description
Bluetooth is a PROPRIETY OPEN WIRELESS technology typically used on phone with a transfer rate of anything between 2400-2480 MHz. the advantages is that you can transfer data without being connected to the other device. but the disadvantage is that the transfer rate is far lower.
IR (infrared connection)
descrition
Infrared (IR) light electromagnetic radiation with longer wavelengths than those of visible light, extending from the nominal red edge of the visible spectrum at 0.74 micrometers (µm) to 300 µm. This range of wavelengths corresponds to a frequency range of approximately 1 to 400 THz, and includes most of the thermal radiation emitted by objects near room temperature. Infrared light is emitted or absorbed by molecules when they change their rotational vibration movements. it is commonly used in tv controllers, phones and heat scanners. the advantages are that its cheap and wireless. but the disadvantages are that you have to be in line line of sight for the weaker connections eg.tv remotes and phones and can be blocked by objects.
Wi-Fi
Description
Wi-Fi (short for "wireless fidelity") is the popular term for a high-frequency wireless local area network (WLAN). The Wi-Fi technology is rapidly gaining acceptance in many companies as an alternative to a wired LAN. It can also be installed for a home network. Wi-Fi is specified in the 802.11b specification from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is part of a series of wireless specifications together with 802.11, 802.11a, and 802.11g. has lots of advantages such as being able to be connected to the internet. the but the disadvantages such as it only has a certain range and there are no test of long terms of effects on the human body so it could seriously affect someones health.
