Adeline loved school and she loved to read and write. She won a national playwriting competition held in London, England from 1951-1952.

Adeline was constantly being sent away by her father and stepmother. She lived in several boarding schools throughout her life and never really had a place to call home.
Aunt Baba
Aunt Baba was a positive, loving influence in Adeline's life. She was always there for Adeline after her mother died and treated Adeline like her own daughter. She encouraged Adeline to continue her education and even saved her report cards.
Adeline's life is very rough after her mother dies of giving birth to her. Her father remarries and she is sent away to boarding school for a long time and never feels like she has a permanent home. She is treated like an outcast. She loved to read and write so much that she won a playwriting competition held in London, England from 1951-1952. After her grandfather YeYe dies, she is devastated when she goes to the funeral. She is determined to make something of her life, in his honor.
