BACKGROUND

Born on December 20, 1881. He was the owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers. He is the person who hired Jackie Robinson. He was a civil rights activist. He died on December 9, 1965.

WHY HE IS A MAKER OF CHANGE

He was a maker of change because he was the person who hired Jackie Robinson. He knew by hiring Jackie people would dislike his decision. Rickey told Jackie that he wanted to hire ''a man with the guts to not to fight back.'' If it wasn't for Branch Rickey baseball wouldn't be desegregate until Martin Luther King Jr.

THE EFFECTS OF HIS CHANGE.

The effect of him hiring Jackie Robinson is that baseball is desegregated now. If it weren't for him hiring Jackie it might not be as different. His change also effected the players of the game.
