Save the Sea Urchins: Faith Blume

Echinus Esculentus - European Edible Sea Urchin

Where do we find them? Why do we want them?

The common sea urchin browses on seaweeds and moves along the sea floor by means of tube feet

Many countries (for example, Indonesia) eat sea urchins like americans eat cheeseburgers. This is a major threat to sea urchins because they are being fished faster than they are reproducing

What are we doing about it?

Many endangered species organizations are creating reservations or "breeding areas" for the sea urchins to repopulate before its too late

Just because they are named with the word 'edible' doesn't mean that they should be eaten!
