School Counseling Department Hours:
Counselors are available during regular school day hours, 8:45-4:05 pm Monday-Friday when school is in session. To set-up an appointment, please email us individually or call 434-974-4321.
If you do not want your SAT and/or ACT scores to show on your AHS transcript, please submit the SAT/ACT Transcript Opt out form by October 1st.
Fill out the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.gov). FAFSA is used to qualify for grants, scholarships, etc. on the college-level (not just federal). AHS will be hosting a FAFSA Night coming in November. Stay tuned for dates!

College Visits: Interested in a specific school? Come to a virtual college rep visit to ask questions and learn about different college opportunities! Visit the AHS Counseling website for an up-to-date list and sign up through Naviance (k12 log-in)
HBCU Week: This week celebrates a group of colleges and universities that are classified by the U.S. Government as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The week pays tribute to their legacy of promoting equal opportunities for high-quality education. Visit this link to register for the HBCU Week Virtual College Fair!
Seniors interested in PVCC
Mrs. Ratliff is available to help AHS seniors and families with exploring PVCC degrees and certificates, the application process, academic advising including 4-year college transfer plans, financial aid, and course registration. Sign up here to request a meeting or just to be added to the email information list (to receive updates on PVCC opportunities for AHS students, such as financial aid workshops, field trips, registration events, etc.). AHS Counseling Department Presents: College and Career Planning Night

6:30 pm-7:30 pm We will have breakout groups from 6:35 pm-7:00 pm and 7:05 pm- 7:30 pm. You can attend 2 breakout sessions.

AHS Club Information
Saturday SAT Testing Dates: Please register at Collegeboard.org. Fee waivers are available, please talk to your counselor if you need financial assistance.

SAT School Day:
We will be offering the SAT's during the school day on March 23rd . This will be for all juniors interested in taking the SAT and is free of cost. (We will be offering the School Day SAT in lieu of the March Saturday SAT at AHS)
