Newsletter - Term 4 Week 5
Friday, 19th November 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Thank you to the parents who attended our senior school information evening last night. The senior teachers went through their programme for 2022 and answered any questions parents may have had. We will look to hold a junior parent meeting in Term 1 next year.
Staffing Changes
Bernardette Crawford will be teaching for the remainder of the year in Room 6 - replacing Paula Stewart who has taken leave. The children all know Bernie and there shouldn't be any disruption to their classroom routines.
Prize Giving
Prize giving this year is still on the 16th December but it will be during the day. We are waiting until the announcement next week from the Government to see if any changes are made to the way we are allowed to run events. Once we know - we will get that information out to our community.
Nga mihi,
Simon Bell

School Accounts
School accounts will be emailed out today to families with outstanding balances. Year 7 & 8 children have Technology before the end of term so the fee has been added to your account so we can get everything cleaned up before the end of year.
We have a number of accounts that have a credit balance. Please check before you pay that your account is not in credit.
We are changing to a new management system next year so it would be great to get the accounts tided up in 2021.

Old Computer
We are looking for an old computer to pull apart. One of our students would like to look at the inside of a computer and rebuild it.
If anyone has one it would be appreciated.
WOOD IS GOOD
This week we had a visit from “Wood is Good”. This is a forestry and log transport programme developed for primary schools in New Zealand and funded by sector groups and the Ministry for Primary Industries. The children enjoyed the activities especially the D.T Kings logging truck.
Great photo from the drone!

Its 20 years since Maureen started as our Caretaker at Otautau School. We wrote stories about Maureen and why she is so special to our school. We have drawn kiwifruit as we have started learning about Kiwiana. We have been learning facts about buzzy bee and gumboots and why they are ‘Kiwiana’.
