GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
Eagles ARISE - Term 1 2022
Eagles ARISE
Students receive tickets from teachers or staff for demonstrating these behaviors by being on time, being respectful to other students and staff, participating in activities. We have updated our rewards and students can now use these blue tickets like cash on cool stuff like GWHS gear, snacks, chargers, battery banks, earbuds, hair ties, lip balms and more or they can use them to enter a raffle for big item giveaways that are held a few times a year (the next is November 9th).
Utah College Application Week
Utah College application week is the first week in October. Our counselors will be supporting students with college applications. A lot of colleges wave the application fees so even if you're unsure, now is the time to apply!! Counselors will call students down Wednesday and Thursday morning. Make sure your student is here and knows their social security number!

Principal's Message: Parents Needed for Community Council
Thank you for all your hard work and support through the past few years. This year is off to a great start. Your children are bouncing back from the past and coming to school with high hopes and bright smiles! As we transition back to "normal," we would like to get parent feedback on how we are doing. We try to serve you and your children as best as we can, but we don't know how good we are doing unless we hear from you directly. We are starting a George Washington Community Council. The council will meet about once a month for an hour for the rest of the school year. We would like to have as many parents as possible participate. We will attempt to have our meetings at a time that is convenient for you and your family.
If you are interested, please send an email to me directly at belljo@ogdensd.org with your name and phone number. I will contact those interested with more details.
Again, thank you for your support and I look forward to learning from you how to make GWHS better!
Lemonade Town
Lemonade Town is a week-long project that teaches students how to start, own, and operate a business (a lemonade stand, in this case). It is also an opportunity to earn up to .50 credits in one week! The skills learned through this project are: basic business information, financial literacy, marketing, responsibility, goal-setting and teamwork.
During Lemonade Town, students work within their advisory classes to develop a business plan for a lemonade stand that includes: a recipe, a retail location, a marketing strategy and commercial and materials, return on investment analysis and going through the loan application process. On the final day classes compete for sales, marketing and best lemonade awards during our open market. Students worked hard and had a great time!
