- Learn 360: a video collection that you can use in instruction and assign to students
- Newsela
- ebooks (Capstone, Axis 360, Trueflix, Bookflix)
- Noodletools (subscription based citation/bibliography tool)
Off FCPS property, passwords will need to be used for our databases & Capstone ebooks. Click here for password page.
Student Success Cards
Don't forget that FCPL has great resources that are FREE to all FCPS students. These include FreedomFlix, Bookflix, TumbleBooks, free ebooks, and TumbleMath. Email me at jennifer.siderius@fcps.org for more information about the Student Success card or read about it online at https://www.fcpl.org/studentsuccess.
Technology Help
Check out The Hub, a website that FCPS Technology Teacher Specialists created to provide teachers with tutorials for FCPS approved digital tools.
Still a work in progress, the site currently has tutorials for a few digital tools you may want to use such as Peardeck & Flipgrid. Check back as they will continue to add to THE HUB in coming weeks. https://sites.google.com/fcps.org/whathowandwhy/home.
Ways I Can Help You!
I've been reflecting on ways I can support you and your students from a distance. I'm open to additional ideas, but here are some starters:
- curate list of digital resources for a research project so that students are using reliable sources
- provide digital lessons from the media center to support your instruction such as evaluating sources, bibliography and citation, internet safety, research skills, copyright, etc.
- identify digital tools/resources to support teacher needs
- collaborate on lessons
- help you locate ebook/audiobooks for your students to meet their academic, as well as personal reading needs
- leverage additional databases & digital books through FCPL. All FCPS students have an FCPL Student Success library card.
- create a booklist of Capstone interactive ebooks for specific content area
- Troubleshoot: while I may not know the answer to your question, I have a team of media specialists across the county + teacher specialists I can reach out to and report back!
