PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Families and Friends of Boone School,
I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very happy Spring! And I also wanted to share with you that I have recently been absent from Boone because I have adopted a newborn baby girl and I am taking some time to spend with my family. I plan to return to Boone in early April, but in the meantime if you have any concerns or questions that need administrative attention, please continue reach out to Mr. Moreno or Ms. Qualkinbush. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Jackie Delaney, Principal

HAIRSPRAY!
Hairspray tells the story of one girl's dream to bridge the black and white racial gap in her city though song and dance! The student cast and crew worked so hard all winter preparing Hairspray for the Boone Community. It was such a funny show with a serious message and a ton of unbelievable singing and dancing! The whole cast and crew did an amazing job!! Congratulations on a great show! Special thank you goes out to Mr. Donlin, Ms. Spears, Mr. Hines, and all of the staff that worked so hard on this incredible performance!!
“Hairspray is a very fun and beautiful and amazing show because of the people there and how they work for it and how much effort they put inside the show. Hairspray is very upbeat and fun and entertaining. I think it was a very good choice that the teachers picked. The teachers they helped us a lot and they kept trying and I just loved that!” - Atalia B.
“My experience has been interesting considering I was switched to a main role at the last minute. I had a lot of fun. Everyone was very nice.” - Devon M.

CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS 7TH/8TH BASKETBALL TEAM!!
Dear Team,
It’s with great pride, appreciation and sadness I write this outgoing letter. I was privileged to have had this opportunity to coach a great group of girls. You woke up many mornings at 7am, ran endless numbers of laps, won many matches and lost very few. We collectively experienced losses that only brought you all closer and stronger. This is your last year at Boone, your final run. As usual, you collectively performed way beyond any normal standards for three years. You have given your time, sweat and tears to this sport of basketball, the game of soccer, and for the badge of Boone.
With all you learned and the friendships gained, you will move to High-school and tackle new challenges. Play with the same passion as a kid that moved you to play this game. It is with great pleasure to instill the principles of basketball in each and everyone of you, but more importantly, the integrity and principles of the Boone 5.
In closing, the morning practice and games are now in the past but your memories of this team and your accomplishments can’t be taken away. “Remember the only rule is to have fun.”
“You are always Champions in my eyes”
Mr. Immanuel out!!

CONGRATULATIONS BOYS 7TH/8TH BASKETBALL TEAM!!
"The boys’ season officially started the second week back from winter break, but half of the team began conditioning back in July. They continued practice through September, and in October, the boys practiced every Monday and Friday from 7-8 a.m.
While they lost their first game to our rival Armstrong by only two points, the team went on a 9 game winning streak. They had the top record in the season out of 8 schools at 12-2. The boys advanced to semifinals in the play-offs and beat Rogers 21-20. Boone advanced to the finals and played Armstrong again. While they played their hearts out, they unfortunately lost 25-17. This has been my most fun, challenging, and successful year as a coach by far. Thank you." - Coach Villar
CONGRATULATIONS BOONE DEBATE TEAM!!
The Boone debate season came to an end at the City Championships on March 9th. Over 95 teams competed from across the city. We showed great tenacity in all the matches! Victoria B. and Yrva D., both current 7th graders, competed in a final round to take home 8th place overall! Congratulations Boone Debate team, and remember, “Debate is life...the rest is just prep time!"
ARTS INTEGRATION - Technology and Math
Mr. Austria and Ms. Krumholz collaborated on an Arts Integrated lesson to support students’ understanding of geometric concepts.
After being introduced to different types of quadrilaterals, students used their coding skills to demonstrate their ability to identify examples of these shapes by creating simple computer games.

CPD Visits the 6th Grade Students!
Three of our Chicago Police Officers visited Boone’s 6th grade classes. The Officers spoke with the students about making good choices, dealing with bullies and peer pressure, and finding ways to motivate themselves.
"In today's career day I learned a lot on what it takes to become a police officer and I've always thought of becoming one. I learned that it takes a lot of work to protect the people in the city of Chicago and I've always appreciated the work they do."
