What Parents Need to Know
Location: The high school address is 7001 Highway 94 South, St. Charles MO 63304.
Parking: All parents should enter from Highway 94 through Entry 2. Handicapped parking is also available at Entry 2. You will no longer be able to come into the high school from Highway D. There is a divider in the road and no left turn can be made into the school lot. The contest recommends spectators arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance time to allow for parking, admissions and finding a seat in the stadium.
Restrooms: The school is not available for the public. Restrooms are located near the concession stand and portable restrooms will be around campus.
Building usage: The building is not available except for emergencies and severe weather.
Admission: Adults $8, senior adults and students $5, children 5 and under are free. This is the cost for the entire day. Programs are $2.
Student seating: Students watching are required to sit in the Visitor’s bleachers on the back side of the field. The home bleachers are reserved for paying customers.
Warm-up: We have a designated warm-up time and place. Students are not allowed to make noise on their instrument outside our warm-up time. Please do NOT cross Highway 94. Props and equipment will need to access the entry gate to the stadium by way of the East parking lot, near warm-up area #1.
Props: These may be left at the scoreboard end of the stadium following our performance until the break.
Field/Penalties: We have a 15 minute time block. Props folks, the gate is 11 feet wide, I don’t think that presents a problem for us.
Awards Ceremony: Awards are at 4:00. Julianna will meet at the track to represent us. After the ceremony, I will need to meet at the track to collect comment forms and scoring packets and draw for our finals performance time. Everyone advances to finals this year. The 4 highest scoring bands will draw for the last 4 performance spots, the other bands will draw for the 1st 4 performing spots.
Trophies: Caption awards for Outstanding Guard, Percussion, Music, Visual and General Effect will be awarded during pre-lims, along with the top 3 bands in each division. We are in the White Division, which I believe is the small band category.
In finals, awards will be given for Outstanding Guard, Percussion, Music, Visual and General Effect. Trophies will be given for 1st through 5th place and plaques for 6th through 8th place.
Food: This show usually has great food. This year they are promising: Little Caesar’s Pizza, Chick-Fil-A, Dairy Queen hamburgers and cheeseburgers and other vendors. The students will need to eat dinner at the festival and there are some pretty decent options.
Mechrandise/Other: PepWear will be there for all your marching band clothing and novelty needs.
Photo/Video: Alive Video will be selling DVDs of the event. This usually means we are not allowed to video from the stands.
Medical: There will be a staffed nurse’s station.
Weather: Maybe fall will be here by then, who knows. Be prepared with polos AND hoodies, pants and shorts. The show will continue even if it rains. In case of severe weather, the show may be moved into the gym. Cold does NOT constitute severe weather. The past couple of years, it has gotten REALLY cold.
