POWERSCHOOL PARENT PORTAL
SCHOOL FEES
Our school fees for 2022-23 are now on the Powerschool payment portal. We are asking that families try to pay these by October 30. Thanks for your support in collecting these in a timely fashion! A Reminder also to our Sports Academy families to set up their academy payments through Powerschool as well.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Thank you to all of our families who were able to join us last week for our first round of interviews and goal setting. Having the opportunity to welcome you into our building to celebrate the amazing things your children are learning each and every day. We truly value the partnership we share with our families in helping to best support your child(ren) and foster their success!
ALL SAINTS DAY
All Saints Day is celebrated on November 1st.
On Nov. 2, All Souls Day, we remember those who have died believing in the resurrection and in life everlasting.
As November is the month of Remembrance, we will be passing our Book of Remembrance from class to class in the next few weeks to record the names of our family and friends who have died in the past year. We invite students and staff to bring pictures (preferably mounted or framed) and/or small mementos of any family members or friends who have died. They will be reverently displayed and will serve as a reminder of these loved ones and our call to pray for them. Please write your child's name on the back of the picture or memento so that we can return them at the end of November.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION SUNDAY
We celebrate the gift of Catholic Education on Sunday, November 27. Our school will be represented at the 9:00 AM Mass at Ecole Notre Dame. Please join us to celebrate Catholic Education together!
CHANGES IN SEPARATION OF SERVICES FOR SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY IN ALBERTA
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has expanded their delivery of Pediatric Rehabilitation Services
for children and youth from birth to 18 years old. One of the key changes is that they will once
again be providing services for speech sound delays and disorders for school-aged children.
AHS will be supporting children with needs in the areas of:
- Speech sound delays and disorders
- Articulation and phonology (e.g., single or multiple sound errors)
- Motor speech (e.g., Childhood Apraxia of Speech)
- Voice and resonance (e.g., cleft and lip palate)
- Fluency (e.g., stuttering)
- Speech and language needs related to acquired brain injury (e.g., TBI)
For services for 0-5 years, the referral line at AHS is 780-408-8793.
For services for 6-18 years, the referral line at AHS is 780-735-3489.
In order to best support children and families in all areas of need, our GSACRD
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) will continue to provide services in areas not covered by
mandate through AHS. GSACRD SLPs will continue to provide services for children with:
● receptive and expressive language delays and disorders,
● those who will benefit from literacy support, and
● complex communication needs.
In addition to the services provided by AHS and GSACRD, some parents may choose to seek
private services. A list of private practitioners can be found at www.asapp.ca.
If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact your school administration.
CHILDHOOD ANXIETY: HELPING CHILDREN HEAL

Time: 6:00- 8:00pm
Cost: Free

This presentation is appropriate for parents, educators, child care professionals, caregivers, and mental health professionals.
The session has a holistic and strength-based approach that focusses on what we as caretakers, parents, and professionals can do vs. stigmatizing children who are struggling. Various facets of the child’s environment will be explored that can contribute to a child’s emotional struggles.
Join Tania Johnson, Registered Psychologist, Registered Play Therapist, and Co-Founder of the Institute of Child Psychology, as we explore the following:
OBJECTIVES:
- Identify neurobiological and physiological mechanisms that underline anxiety
- Describe ways in which parenting styles can contribute to anxiety in children
- Implement a variety of emotion regulation strategies
- Recognize environmental and societal factors that contribute towards the increase in anxiety amongst children

Turning Worry into “I Wonder”
Turning Worry into “I Wonder”
Worrying from time to time is a normal part of life. But when worrying becomes a continuous habit, it can have serious impacts on your child and their well-being. A strategy to help your child with their feelings of worry is to turn their worries into “I wonder” statements. This can benefit their mental and physical health and guide them to become more resilient.
Check out Big Life Journal’s technique on teaching your child to turn their worry into “I wonder” in the article below:
