Monday is Math Benchmark Day! This is your students chance to show how much they have learned so far this quarter! We will spend some time reviewing the benchmark on Tuesday, as well as review key math skills as necessary after that.
For regular math, the next major topic we will begin studying is Ratios and Proportions. Specifically we will begin computing unit rates, with the emphasis on computing complex unit rates (where there are fractions within the fraction).
For accelerated math, the next new topic we will be discussing is determining and representing relationships as proportional.
Don't forget, the Word Wall Words for this quarter, along with a quizlet to review them can be found on my school webpage. Math word wall quiz will be December 11.
Encourage your student to spend time practicing on iReady. 45 minutes a week is ideal for maximum student growth!
Also, please start sending in composition notebooks for your student (and even extra if you are able). We will be using these for Interactive Math Notebooks after Christmas Break.
Have a wonderful week!

Heim's Happenings:
On Monday we will be wrapping up our three story unit on Vietnam. Your child will have a CFB on Tuesday over what we have covered so far in ELA this 9 weeks. I know your child will do the best they possibly can to make a good grade on this test.
We went to the computer lab on Friday and your child now has access to USATestPrep - he/she can login at home using his/her credentials to login the computers at school. Make sure they have oakland67 in the school ID then their username and password. They can get on and practice as much as they would like. Mrs. Ruis purchased this program specifically for 7th grade ELA to use - it is excellent practice for the TNREADY testing this spring.
The end of the week we will be diving in to point of view and going over our new book report requirements. Students will not have to turn in a book report until after Thanksgiving break. Book reports will look a little different after Thanksgiving, so if you ask your child - they should tell be able to tell you what has changed. We will be creating(actual report), revising and editing, and reflecting - book reports will be turned in every three weeks instead of each week! New requirements will be posted on my website and in Edmodo by Monday night.
Having trouble with certain standards? In Edmodo your child will have access to a wide variety of videos to support what we have been working on in class. This would be a great place to start if your child needs a little extra push. Also, please remind your child to complete weekly his/her News and English articles in Edmodo. Edmodo is THE go to place where your child can find everything he/she needs for ELA.
Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Ms. Heim

This week in Young's History World...
We are spending the week in review mode and preparing for our CFB on Thursday. Be on the lookout for a study guide either Tuesday or Wednesday and please sign and return.
We are covering everything on the CFB that we have studied since we returned from fall break. It is a lot of information including the Roman Catholic church as a university, aesthetic institution, political institution; the Crusades, the Reconquista & Spanish Inquisition; monastic and mendicant monks, Moors, the black death (plague), and Magna Carta.
Parent's homework...ask your kiddo about any or all of these topics!
