Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
I would say its outside and inside because go out to test stuff and in to make stuff

Across all sectors, tasks generally include: designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability; developing a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines; developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs
Demands for job in future
To design flying aircraft's to go to mars and to use in around town like hoverboards.
Education for the job
You need a bachelor degree and in that you need to learn math, science and also are expected to gain a basic understanding of civil engineering, electrical engineering and chemical engineering.
