Fourth Grade Shoots for the Stars!
Weekly Greetings from Mr. Leibowitz
News from our Fourth Grade Classroom
Our fourth graders are sprinting to the finish line and tackling plenty of challenging academic and content-rich work in language arts and mathematics. Fourth graders learned how to identify equivalent fractions and to simplify fractions into their simplest form. In Language Arts, our students read further in their chapter books and learned more about adverbs. In our penultimate meeting with our Lion's Cage teams, our students worked studiously on "thank you" letters for the Lions.
What's next on our plate? Our final STEM project for the year, a research project involving the Civil War. We can do it!

Lion's Cage!
Congratulations to teams NonYaBusiness, BAR, 4 Productions, F Cubed, 4Gram, and the Cooking Crazies for doing an AMAZING job! What a great experience for the kids, parents and teachers alike! If you were not able to attend, make sure you find the link on Twitter to see your child in action.
Helping our fourth graders develop their inventions from dream to reality was an amazing experience. Keep checking this newsletter for more pictures in the coming days. If you have pictures from Friday's event, please feel free to email them to me.
It does not surprise me that our fourth graders were able to rock this event while simultaneously bringing their best effort to our standardized testing! Well done fourth grade! For those students that missed a day of testing due to absences, make-ups will take place on Monday, May 1.
Meet the Chicks!
We even got a chance to play with Ms. Montiero's baby chicks! Thank you first grade for being so welcoming!
The game was a nail-biter, but the kids prevailed!

Philadelphia Orchestra Trip
Fourth graders were treated to all kinds of fun and excitement this week, beginning with our school field trip to the Philadelphia Orchestra's Link Up: The Orchestra Moves series. Students were up and out of their seats, actively participating in Beethoven's 5th Symphony and acting out the musical motifs (by waving, tiptoeing, bouncing, and more) along with the performers' rendition of Grieg's "Hall of the Mountain King." I think it was clear to everyone that Offenbach's "Can Can" was a fan favorite!
