2023 Washington DC Trip

FJH 8th graders recently returned from the annual class trip to Washington D.C. and had an incredible experience. Mr. Heiniger (8th grade social studies teacher) will again be sponsoring the trip through Worldstrides next year over President’s Day weekend. Students will fly out to our nation’s capital Saturday-Monday and visit many of the Smithsonian Museums such as the Natural and American History Museums, the Air and Space Museum, as well as the Holocaust Museum. They will also be visiting Ford’s Theatre, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, the Capitol, Supreme Court, National Cathedral, and many other monuments and memorials. Students received detailed information packets from their social studies teacher that contain early sign-up discounts and an opportunity to lock in a $100 discount off next year’s price if they register by May 18th. Here is a link to a website with registration information as well: There will also be an optional parent meeting on April 27th at 7:00pm in the FJH Media Center for additional information. Don’t let your son or daughter miss this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Spread the word! Camp Iwannarun 2022 registration is now open for all incoming 6th , 7th , and 8th grade students. This camp is for runners who are interested in improving their endurance, strength, and speed. This is a great way to kick off summer conditioning for the upcoming Fall Cross Country Season or other sports. Join Students and Staff for the 2022 Geist 5k!

Many of the Fishers Junior High Community will be participating in this years Geist 5k and you can join in on the fun. Run, walk or crawl……whatever it takes to cross the finish line on May 22nd. All running/walking paces are welcome to participate. The link and instructions for registering are below. How to Register for the Geist Fitness 5k Challenge 2022

  1. Go to and click on ‘Register Now.’
  2. Click on ‘Register HERE for Geist 5k Fitness Challenge.’
  3. On the next page, click ‘I have an access code’ located on the right hand side of the page.
  4. ACCESS CODE REQUIRED page. Please use the access code: STUDENT
  5. Click ‘Validate’ to be taken to the next page.
  6. Enter name, address, phone number, emergency contact, t-shirt size, etc.
  7. Be sure to enter your team name at the drop down menu!
  8. Agree to waiver.
  9. Feel free to make a donation to your school foundation to help promote health and wellness programs in your district.
  10. Add billing address and payment.
  11. Click ‘Submit.’ You are all set!

Counselor's Corner


Parents are now able to view course requests in skyward until April 18th. Instructions on how to do this will be sent via skylert in a separate email. If a student would like to change the elective they chose, they may stop by the guidance office to make that change, email their counselor, or parents may call the Guidance office. Parents will be able to verify course selections later in the spring. Schedule changes will not be made after May 20.

If your child will be withdrawing from FJH, you must notify the Guidance office in advance of your student’s last day. Withdrawal forms prepared by the Guidance office must be signed by the parent/guardian.

2022-2023 School Year: If your child will be attending another school outside HSE School District next year, please call the Guidance office at 317-594-4150, ext. 5713 before May 1st so records can be prepared for the new school.


Indiana's 21st Century Scholars Program is the state’s premier college scholarship and preparation program for low-income Hoosier students. Students who fulfill the Scholar Pledge are provided up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible college or university. Scholars also receive a variety of support services designed to help them succeed in school and complete college.

The Butler Way Future-Focused Leadership Academy will be held in person from June 13 - June 16 from 9 - 4 pm. The cost for Empowering Future Leaders: The Butler Way is $75 per student. Limited scholarships will be available. The cost will cover lunch, materials, speakers, camp shirts, and activities. Any student entering grades nine through twelve for the 2022-2023 school year are eligible to attend. Student leaders, such as those serving as Student Council representatives, class moderators, NHS participants, team captains, etc., would greatly benefit from this experience. They will learn invaluable leadership skills that will both help them and your school! IB Diploma students can use this experience to earn CAS hours or even complete their CAS project. Any student interested in developing their leadership skills are encouraged to attend.


Hi, FJH! The Writing Club is proud to announce that we will be having Brian Zepka talk to us after school on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Mr. Zepka wrote the book The Temperature of Me and You. This book is a LGBTQIA novel for teens about a boy named Jordan who can control fire, a power which eventually starts spreading to his boyfriend Dylan. The two must work together to evade an evil corporation hunting down Jordan to experiment on him. The Temperature of Me and You is slated to have a Disney+ adaptation in the near future. You can order a copy of the book from the FJH Writing Club in the coming week. With your order, you will get an autograph book plate and more swag from Mr. Zepka. Orders end on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, so get yours quickly. For more information and book forms, please feel free to stop by and talk to Mrs. Alexander in the library.

Boys Volleyball is BACK this Spring:

Due to interest, Mudsock Youth Volleyball will be running sessions for 3rd - 8th graders from April 22nd - May 15th on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Knights Travel Cheerleading Tryouts:

Calling all incoming 5th and 6th graders! Do you want to stunt, flip, jump, and cheer for the Knights Travel Football Team? Attend the callout meeting on April 25th for all the details.
