Lunch Times
Parents often ask when their student will be eating lunch. Please see the times below.
5k students: 12:15-12:40
1st graders: 12:25-12:45
2nd graders: 12:25-12:45
3rd graders: 12:45-1:05
4th graders: 12:45-1:05
- If you would like to eat with your student you must sign in to the office security system first, so leave yourself a few extra minutes to complete that.
- Only guardians and those on a student's emergency contact list may come to lunch at school without a parent's prior permission.
- You are allowed to bring your own lunch - or lunch for your child - or you may select one of our hot lunch items. The cost of your lunch will be deducted from your student's account.
Stranger Awareness
A stranger is someone we don’t know and if a child is not sure, they should always err on the side of staying safe. Here are some tips that will be shared if we encounter a dangerous stranger. Talking at both home and school about this topic will help to communicate the importance and give tools our kids can use.
- Run in opposite direction of person/car to a safe place (your house, neighbors house, business, school)
- If in danger, find a safe person (police officer, firefighter, someone you know, mom with kids)
- Scream, kick, hit, make a scene.
- Yell "Who are you?" "You are not my mom/dad!" "Leave me alone!"
- Never ever go anywhere with someone you don’t know.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Wagner (wagnerj@oasd.org) or Mrs. Yearling (yearlings@oasd.org).
Halloween Costume Parade
We love celebrating traditions with our students! Taking a break from our focused learning for a half hour is another way to build connections in a positive way. This year, Halloween celebrations will take place on Friday, October 27th.
Our costume parade will occur immediately after announcements at 8:45 am. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend! You will need to park in the Firemen's Hall parking lot and walk to the school.
A few costume guidelines:
- Students who want to participate must come to school already in costume.
- Face paint should be kept to a minimum to avoid distraction all day.
- Masks will only be permitted during the parade and classroom party time.
- Costumes must be age appropriate and not involve gore/violence/blood.
- No fake weapons will be permitted under any circumstance

Attendance & Appointments
We know some daytime appointments cannot be avoided, but please do try to make your child's appointments outside of the school day. Our class time is precious and even the best student can suffer when too much instruction is missed. If your child must attend a daytime appointment, please let both the office (Ixonia@oasd.org) and your child's teacher know with plenty of advance notice. Then, if possible, bring a doctor's note to the school to excuse your student.
If you have questions, please call our attendance line at 262-560-8402.
Illness Guidelines
If your child is sick, we ask that you keep them home to limit exposure to other children.
Here are our illness guidelines:
- Fever. A child with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher should not be at school. Children must be fever free, without the use of medicine for 24 hours before returning to school.
- Stomachache, Vomiting, Diarrhea. A child who is vomiting or having diarrhea should be kept at home until symptoms have resolved for 24 hours.
- Cough, Sore Throat, Runny Nose. Severe cough and cold symptoms mean a child should stay home, even without a fever. Mild cold or respiratory symptoms mean a child can come to school. Sore throat, with a fever or rash means your child should stay home and be seen by a health care provider.
- Contagious Diseases. If your child has been diagnosed with something like Strep Throat, Impetigo, Pinkeye, Bronchitis, etc - they may return to school after 24 hours of treatment with an antibiotic.
- Nuisance Diseases. If your child has been diagnosed with head lice, scabies or ringworm, they may return to school after treatment.
All absences must be called in to our attendance line 262-560-8402
