Welcome Back to School
August 2022
Principal's Letter
Our first day of school is August 4th. Our school hours are 9:15 am - 3:35 (elementary)/4:15(middle school). We have an early release time on Wednesdays, student leave one hour early: 2:35 (elementary) and 3:15 (middle school. The earliest any student can be dropped off is 8:30 am. There is no adult supervision prior to that time.
We are asking for your support regarding the introduction of Student Goal Sheets. Each student will have a goal sheet. The goal sheets will be academically focused with weekly check ins with their first period teachers. The goals sheets will have the most current scores from diagnostics and benchmarks along with grades. These goal sheets will also be shared with families, so everyone is on the same page in supporting our Lobos.
As always, please feel free to reach out to us through:

Dress Code-Uniforms are Required
Lawrence 3-8 Uniform Policy: Included TUSD Dress Code
Based on grade level, every student is required to be in school uniform unless parent(s)/guardian(s) have received written notification from the school of a scheduled Free Dress Day. Every student is eligible for Free Dress Day Incentives but may not have the opportunity to participate if they do not meet the incentive expectations. Teachers are expected to check for uniform compliance at the beginning of the day. Every effort will be made by the morning support staff to identify students out of uniform so class time is not disrupted. Students who wear sweatshirt tops will be expected to show the collar of their top if requested by a staff member. Send any student out of uniform compliance with a pass to the Dean of Student’s office for consequence process. Depending of availability, the student may receive a school uniform for the school day.

Higher Ground
Higher Ground’s mission is to empower one life at a time to reach, transform, and elevate their community through love and character building. In other words, we work with students, families, and community members to provide any resource that is outside of the scope of education:
● Our student support specialist works closely with students on developing executive functions and decision-making skills to reach their individual goals.
● Our family support specialist works directly with families to achieve their unique goals and locate community resources that they might need.
● Our site director works with students, families, and community members to build community rapport and a pool of resources that empower the community.
We support schools and education professionals by filling in the gaps that families might need so that schools can focus on education. Partnering with local programs and organizations, we act as the bridge between families and any resource that can reach, transform, and elevate their lives according to their individual goals. Our Lawrence team is looking forward to working with you, your students, and your staff this year
